I did not go to the gym, I have not done much work but I did get a reply from the estate agent and it does look like you can buy as long as you have lived 5 years in Denmark so no need to rent we could buy straight from UK. Now that has opened up a can of worms. We have been offered a viewing in July. That could work after we come back from the Summerhouse but a lot of logistics due to trains and flights but it could work. I would need to involve my sister in it. Right must get back to work!

This is all very exciting - and the house prices v their design etc is fabulous- we may all be moving to Denmark
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks LWAP yes it all got really real very quickly but my sister has not replied (she works long shifts without access to a phone) and the Danish estate agent is fine about me getting back to him later on.

I did go to the sewing gettogether and it was lovely. A few new ladies and nice to see how projects had progressed. I managed to get the sides together on my skirt I did make a mistake which I cant be bothered to fix and I think I might be able to fit into the it after all as I have done the seams as small as possible if not I might be able to add an extra panel. Cost £5 but well spent and got a cup of tea too plus met some local ladies.

Work is still busy but I am feeling very calm about it as I am really enjoying it at the moment. I have 4 meetings today but all ok.

Diet was not too bad yesterday. I had slimfast for breakfast, tuna pitta for lunch and porridge with fresh strawberries for dinner after sewing. I did snack on raisins and nuts plus a bit of dark chocolate and a few pepperoni slices baked with parmesan. Gym tonight 6pm to 8pm incl aqua which is always good. Then I have a site visit on Wednesday which is also the D Day Celebrations locally so will miss any flyover I suspect but can watch it on telly instead.

Won £50 on the premium bonds I could have got £125 if I had it sat in a savings account I am still adding £500 a month but lets see how it goes I love checking the app etc.

Joint account looking healthy although I had to take out £66 to pay for Co2 subscription and a take away pre holiday. My own bill account will need to be topped up but the PB money is arriving tomorrow so will shuffle around and try and spend minimal this month. We do have the 2 x 60th party on Saturday and are going out to lunch Friday but that is at a friends house so only need to take flowers or something. Funeral is Thursday so no cost there obviously. My new pattern cutting course is Wednesday two ladies from the sewing club is coming too so can wave at them online at least. Busy week indeed when I write it all down but I have taken Friday afternoon off so that is good.

  • Glad you got your suitcase back. Like @LadyWithAPlan asked - was everything there and nothing missing?

I too bought a soda stream, as I like fresh orange juice and soda and even soda water on its own. Yes, you do have to change the cylinder, but I think it works out cheaper in the end and it saves you the effort of lugging bottles from the supermarket.

I agree that it’s not wise to sell in the winter as you want to show off your house to the best advantage (particularly with your pool). I also took money (£1000) out my premium bonds to pay the balance of my teeth implants as the 0% deal was coming to an end on the credit card I took out. As it was too near this month’s draw, I had to wait until after the draw, and I’m glad I did, as I’ve just won £100, (maybe on those bonds?).  Maybe the million pound jackpot is heading my way? (You have to dream, don’t you.).

Thanks FreetodoasIlike yes everything was in the case thank goodness it would have been horrible to loose it all. I am grateful and trying to be more careful.

Yes it would not be wise to sell in Winter I Will see what the estate agent says but I think we will avoid rushing into anything but ideally if we do not have to move into rented that would be better. We have seen a few cheaper houses but equally as nice one £70K less but there is a big boarding school for teens and a factory literally next door so maybe that is why they are cheap. Shame as they are so close to the golf course.

I do live my premium bonds and well done on winning £100 makes sense to wait and take them out until after the draw. My withdrawal came in today  so very quick so will remember that in future. Does not make sense to pay interest on things if you do not have to. Absolutely we have to dream for sure.

Just done a site visit which was really nice and got me closer to my old job but also very helpful in the new one. Made me realise even more how lucky I am to have this job but I also do want to move. The restructure is likely to change my job anyway next year so all seems to point to leaving or if possible taker a sabbatical.

Currently sitting in a Costa as I missed the train by 2 min but I had originally planned to go on the next one and this drink is free on expenses. I used the  O2 Priority App to get a free drink this  morning. I  did lose my lunch receipt so £5 spent there but claiming this drink instead so works out ok.

My course starts at 6.30pm so will be home in plenty of time and quite looking forward to it even it is on Zoom.

Tomorrow is my friends funeral will be difficult but will also be good to go to.

All the best for the funeral.

Sounds pretty full on with the house decisions and how quickly to move. Exciting though.

Thanks Savingsholmes yes a lot going on and just no time to move anything forward. We are trying to hold off flaky cousin coming down for a weekend. We offered him one and he couldn't but the rest is just so full and we do need to do something about the Civil Ceremony asap. I do not even want to look at the to do list  :s

This week is so full already I prefer not to have everything all in one. I definitely have more of a social life than I did in my 20's and 30's and 40's it is a bit mad.

I did manage to chill yesterday when I got in until my course started and it was so so good. I really enjoyed it even if it was fast passed. I learnt some really useful symbols that are on a pattern and figured out why I could not work out which way the pleats on my skirt should go. We did sleeves and it all made sense and it will be really useful for altering patterns when I come to lengthen things like sleeves, the waist and the legs. Next week is collar. I don't think I will ever get to the stage where I do not buy a pattern but at least I think I will be able to change things if I want to. Had to buy a new ruler for the course £15 but it will last and I can see how useful that will be. Also worked out what another tool is I have in my sewing box so now no need to buy that.

Got lots of work to do before we leave the house at 3pm.

The sewing group sounds great ! I may have to find one - loved my garment class but missed loads as tutor was away or I was . But having not yet attempted a pattern on my own … though I do have 2 easy non zip dresses that I will try to make a pattern from - in v cheap fabric ;) I think all the new classes start in September so

hope today wasn’t too impossibly difficult to say goodbye - friendship is so important as we choose each other so can be just as difficult as relatives I find ..
have a much loved friend going through chemo after cancer surgery at present plus 2 other friends in same situation - life can be so hard

I also won £100 this month - after none since £25 in March so maybe Ernie is feeling the love for us MSE’ers

Thanks LWAP the funeral was really poignant she was a police officer so she was blue lighted in and lots of officers in  attendance. It followed her life and people talked about her life, family work etc. She was just a lovely lovely person and the crematorium which seated 90 was full plus standing plus people outside. The wake afterwards was also good lots of people we knew from the golf club so nice to catch up and talk about her too there.

Re the making patterns out of an old dress if it is cheap material just go for it you are only going to "waste" some time really and it might work out lovely. Also well done on the win I was the same nothing in May for me.

I only had a shandy at the wake and a glass of wine with lots of ice when I got back yesterday but my head feels fuzzy. We are going out for lunch today so I can drink as I drove yesterday but as we are going to a party Saturday and I hate hangovers I am not sure I will have that much. Spent £20 in Tesco on the way home as I had to pick up my Vinted dresses and we needed wine for today (and yesterday) plus a reduced pizza for dinner. Tesco is so expensive compared to Lidl.

Re the dresses, the ASOS one is too small it is a size 12 so no chance but the LTS jumpsuit is just perfect comfortable and I love it. It is new with Tags. I have never worn a jumpsuit before so glad I took the chance for £13 and I can now wear it to my friends party on Saturday. I might even look for a jumpsuit for the Civil Ceremony obviously have to be LTS as I do not think I could make one myself.

Our neighbours asked if we could dog sit another weekend but we are actually in Denmark so can't. It is hard work dog sitting but nice to be asked as it means we can ask them.

Right as per this week lots of work to be done to best get on with it as leaving here at 11am for my 1/2 day off.
