  • Your jumpsuit sounds fab. I guess from your user-name that you’re quite tall, so can carry it off. I’m not, so would look Andy Pandy! I know some jumpsuits suit small women, I’m just not one of them! I got a lovely Calvin Klein dress from Vinted (navy with white border, fit and flare) for £8 and fits perfectly and so nice on.

Yes Freetodoasyoulike I am quite tall indeed so LTS just fits me perfectly usually so that is at least handy. I do need to lose some kilos but it is what it is for now. Vinted is super handy I've had some great stuff off there.

The lunch was lovely yesterday with the older lady we met through golf turns out she worked with our friends who's 60th we are going to today. Small world. We had some lovely food sitting outside in her garden right in the heart of the city.

Went home got our Bookers card and managed to get the gifts at Bookers plus wrapping etc from Tesco plus quick dash to Lidl for free fruit plus won more obviously. It is good to can collect more than 1 free fruit per visit.

I have done the silicone in the bathroom and we have booked the notification for the civil ceremony. We have also had a go at filling in the forms needed for the transfer of the business premises. We are a bit stuck on a couple of points so DG might need some help. We also have a friend who does a lot of land registry forms. Presents all written up and cards done. We are going to drive there then get a taxi home.

    To DO
    - Silicone around the front door surround
Change my address and marital status on DK site
    - Paint the 2 back fence panels
    - Sort will out to include civil partnership
    - Book reading for Civil Partnership DONE
    - Start process of registering business premises in my name got title register and title deeds STARTED
    - Sort out chip in windscreen
    - Find out how to take 25% lump sum from pension. Booked PW app 10/7/24
    - Sort out pool ready for estate agents visit 10/6
    - Remove silicone in bathroom before DONE
    - Email exBIL DONE

Still have a few more things I would like to do before the estate agent gets here. Likely to have a hangover tomorrow but hopefully do some bits. Also want to have a look out for the red arrows at 3.30pm. Might have to venture out to see them still in my PJs.

I love a jumpsuit but have a very long body so they often are too short. Never tried LTS...  but just googled and  the brand American Tall just popped up and they have some amazing palazzo pants...

Your TO DO list is killing me !

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks for popping in LWAP I do like Palazzo pants as well just need the right top with them.

We did see the Red Arrows before we went to the party they were really good. Party was great spoke to quite a few new people they are such a lovely couple so all their friends and family are just nice. We met a lady who we used to do gym with on a Monday turns out she is their neighbour. Got to catch up with a lady the birthday boy and I worked with I have not seen her for about 9 years so that was nice. She had never met DG and more sadly it turns out her breast cancer has now come back and it is in the different place. It is stage 3 and she is having treatment for it. She still works in the same job she did when we worked with her so will have a nice DC pension coming her way. She still had a mortgage (split from partner about 15 years ago) but she thinks she has to carry on working until she is 62. I would just go if it was me but she says she enjoys the job so that is a good thing. Still made me think again and more determined to make my plans a reality.

Sunday we did not do a lot had McD delivered (I have never done that) but it was ok and then we got a few bits done around the house and they were minor such as tidy up for estate agent. I did want to clean the pool but that did not happen. Drove over to get the car and saw friends for a bit and then DG practised on the range while I did Duolingo on a bench I just could not face golf. She hit the ball well so all is calm again. We are playing Sunday so would be good if that lasts.

The gym has an incentive scheme until 31st July if you do 10 clases you get a free tea or coffee and if you do 15 its a free day pass. That is worth getting so DG and I are signed up. There are prizes higher up you go but we are way for the last 2 weeks so will see how it goes. This is it we do need to get back into gym properly starting with 2 sessions this morning and 2 tomorrow evening then I will see what I can do for the rest of the week as I also want to play some golf.

Estate agent is coming at 4pm which is why I am up early doing some work before gym. Looks like the pay offer was accepted at work so that is an extra amount for me plus back pay. I think there is a lump sum as well ( a small one) as my scale is called manager so they never gets much compared to those just below me who are not managers.

Thanks for popping in Savingsholmes always nice.

Gym is hurting today but felt so good to go and do two classes. We also played 9 holes after work lovely evening apart from DG having another "bad" day and I did not play particularly well. Felt a bit cheated the gym classes only count 1 a day so if we go 3 days a week then we will only just make it eventhough that is actually 5 classes a week. Cheeky!

Biggest news is that estate agent came around and he agrees the property should marketed in Summer due to the garden. He would normally market it in Jan/Feb for an August sale or we could wait and do it like March or April but then because we would want to make soon we might have to drop the price.

However if we were to market it in say August he could hold off a buyer until about December time but after that you really would need to look at moving into rental. We talked lots of scenarios we could move into the mobile home my friends mum has as they do not use it over winter (would need to check) and then we could move to Denmark earlier and rent something (or get my sister to rent) as we would need a UK address to get my pension lump sum. I would also like to work a bit longer in my job to save up slightly more.

The other scenario could be that we market it July and then someone has not sold their house and are happy to wait. Or we get someone and it falls through a couple of times which helps with the time line. He had looked the house up online before he came and he was surprised how much had been done. He said had I not done all the work the value would have been £410 or £425 but with it all done he would be happy to market it at £495 as the increases seems to have done and we are on our way down a bit. I would be happy with getting the £380 I paid plus what we spent on renovations. For 5 years I do not expect a profit so there is a bit of room for negotiations.

We now need to make a decision but he suggested getting the marketing done photos etc soon and then we could put it on when we come back from Denmark which is early Aug. That gives us at least 3 months maybe a bit longer depending on how nice September is.

Did not get any details of how much they charge or what else is needed (I know we need an EPC) but we need to make a decision first. I am kind of just leaning towards list it and deal with whatever comes next. If it does not sell then we know and can start again next year.

The English system is so different.   Seems strange (to me) for estate agent to be saying he can influence the date like that and also to be almost planning for sales to fail.

Good luck with it all tg, I'm sure it will all work out xxxx

Nice to see progress on the next steps of your fabulous life!
Just a thought but maybe the cost of the rent/storage and upheaval vs the difference in price  you get it selling it summer vs winter isn't such a huge deal?
When do you want to move to Denmark, with the salary extra savings?

I like your gym incentives though boo to only one per day. I have been cycling, walking a lot but not in the UK so no gym. I am planning for a run later today

Thanks Daisy and LWAP thanks for the comments so much to think about and nice to be able to think out loud on here. The estate agent was trying to think how long you could feasibly hold up a sale and the June to Dec was an example say there was a mortgage redemption penalty that would be the length of time someone would wait for that.

It is a bog standard 4 bed detached house built in late 1970 it is surrounded by semis and terraces but was makes it special is the views, the large front garden and the back garden which is landscaped with a pool and our converted garage plus spa area/shower. It is quite niche as it will not suit families with small children due to the pool and steps in the garden. Also the older folk might not want those steps too. Families with older children would work or someone like us working from home who likes to entertain and spend time outside. That is why marketing in the Summer makes more sense. As we ideally want to move to Denmark shortly after 1st August 25 if we market in say March/April 25 what if it falls through a few times or we simply do not get any buyers then we would have to drop the price as we would be keen to move then. It is a tricky one indeed. It would be hard to coordinate a sale in Denmark with this one unless we could exchange several months in advance. We would need to ship everything over to Denmark and I can see us renting here or in Denmark but yes ideally avoid this.

When we move I will not be able to do my job I am not allowed to be based outside of the UK. I would ask for a sabbatical that would give me 1 more year and maybe they will rethink the outside of UK rule but who knows. I would support DG in her self employed role it would mean we could do more of the short contract work and get a steady income to pay the bills. I would need to draw on my investments etc to pay for the extras plus spending money. DG will get her small DB pension May 25 and I would get mine Aug 30.  I have just tried to get some information about lump sums I think it depends on the pension provider which means I have to tackle good old Royal London again. Yuck

Got rid of one of the long standing on the to do list the chip in the windscreen.

    TO DO
    - Silicone around the front door surround
Change my address and marital status on DK site

    - Start process of registering business premises in my name got title register and title deeds STARTED
