No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks VandaFC, Stoplurking, LWAP and Daisy_1571 it was exactly that view that drew me to the house. It is not ours but it is right in front of the house and there is never going to be built anything in front of us so we will always have that view. They really do look after the area, grass is cut, play area repaired, reeds trimmed etc. I think it is all paid for by the land association which we will also be paying into.
I started looking into renting a van or getting someone to pick up the apothecary but OMG. Stupidly we cannot hire anything as we are non EU driving licenses so that is a not. I did not realise how cheap and easy it is to get an international license but of course can only be got in the UK. The cheapest quote for picking it up and we would still need to go there to move it out of the house is £175 and van hire is £81 so it does make sense for DG to get an international license when she goes over in November. It is annoying to wait that long but needs must. She is desperate to get a corner sofa for the bar but as we cannot hire a van it is a bit tricky. My BIL has a trailer we might be able to persuade him to help if we find one locally.
Curtain rails have arrived and the gas piston is ready for collection. My garden stuff has also been sent so that should be here soon. It is a shame the bedside tables from Jysk have not arrived yet. Seems to take a long time when it is just going to the shop not home delivery.
We were going to the gym first thing but could not face it and it would have meant two trips to town which was a bit silly. Instead we cleaned the house so it is all nice and ready for mum. I do miss my cleaner big time but it is probably too expensive to get one here and the plan is not to work full time so we should be able to do it ourselves. Maybe just get a deep clean every now and then.
It was really nice last night DG said her skin has been so much better since we moved here. We are not sure if it is the water or it is just less stress here. She is also sleeping a lot better she uses CBD oil in a vape just before she goes to bed and it seems to work so I think that is a plus too.
Right I have a meeting in a minute so best get on to that.

Forgot to say we WON on the Premium Bonds!! I got 1 prize of £100 and DG got 2 x £50 and 1 x £100. So that is £400 for £100K invested I dont think that is too far out.
Sad news just in via my cousin my dads youngest sister who we just missed when we visited him has died this morning. I will go to the funeral she lives in the same town and my mum and my dad. It is really say but she was 89 so not bad considering she also had Parkinsons. She died of a heart attack so she was agile right to the end and no dementia for sure.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Thanks LAWP yes I think she was quite good right to the end. The funeral is on Thursday so will definitely go and so will the rest of the family incl my mum so that will be nice. The wake is at a restaurant close to a holiday island we used to have a summer house on so that will be nice too.
Been out with my mum today to the second hand shops she loves them. The apothecary we saw yesterday after gym was still for sale but it sold while we were in the shop. No wonder they only wanted £40 for it and it was solid pine. It was lovely but we really do not need too and my mums is an antique and much much larger.
My mum got a shirt in there and I did not find anything however at the other one I found a lovely book about quirky places around this area plus a Danish beer glass that is no longer in production. My mum gave me 4 ages ago they are almost pint ones but she also has wine ones. There was no price on it and the lady in the shop clearly did not know what it was. I paid £3 they sell for £25 on Ebay but I am going to use mine and enjoy it.
Got my lawn mover and strimmer delivered. It is a great package and tackled the high weeds no issue. It also has a tool for removing weeds that's really really good as you do not have to bend down to get them out and I do have a lot. The strimmer is also fab only broke 1 plastic knife but they sit in the handle so easy to replace much better than the string ones so glad i got that one. Only issue is there is only 2 batteries and the lawnmover use 2 so if you have used one already for the strimmer it does not really work. You can also get a double charger that is what I need really.
My mum is now awake after her nap so I am going to spend some time with her.Save £12k in 25 No 49
