Funeral went well saw 4 of my cousins which was nice. I really do not know them that well but one lives on this island which is nice. I know her daughter as well she’s more my age.

My dad oh dear we did collect him late Weds from his so called girlfriend. She knew about the funeral so we were worried she might pitch up as she also knew my aunt but luckily she didn’t. She’s really awful and in all the time we were with my dad he did not mention her once. He’s far more calm and himself when he’s not with her. It’s really sad but because of her daughter facilitating her mum going to her we can’t do a lot. We did drop my dad back and got all his care back on. He’s lost more weight as he does not get meals of wheels or carers to cook for him. She eats everything so even when he’s home she eats his food. He just thinks it’s great he’s lost weight and she’s pleased too. The fact he’s lost more than half his weight is just not good. Worrying times but going over next weekend so hopefully she’s not pitched up yet at my dads.

Got some work done to prep for business we have to decide systems and it also turns out dg has been storing all her stuff on her harddrive. We’re going to use One Drive so I have to switch from Google.

I only need to return my laptop and phone so that’s really cool. I can keep my headset and keyboard mouse which are fine.

We were playing golf today but then my sister offered to collect the chest freezer so we didn’t in the end. They are not coming for dinner but collecting the freezer next weekend.

They have kindly agreed to hire a trailer and drive us to my mums to pick up the apothecary plus we help out with putting her garden stuff away. We will also try and straighten my dads place out. I say try it’s a mess.

It will be Friday to Saturday so cats will be fine overnight. Ginger couldn’t get in the flap earlier which is not good.

Today is cleaning the house continue to build furniture for guest bedroom and maybe do a bit in pool bar. We got the sofas delivered they look ace and the coffee table fit too. The new expensive one for lounge is great too. I now need to list the freebie sofa my sister got us as her friend no longer need it.

    Sorry to hear all this.

Perhaps its time to call on the daughter en masse and tell her not to take her mother to your dads again.  Firmly.  And unequivocally.  Couched in the terms you've mentioned there's abuse of your dad and his belongings going on.  Perhaps the daughter thinks its an easy way of dealing with her mother,  saves her looking after her.  Who knows but that's their problem.   Tell them you ve had a ring doorbell fitted and the moment they turn up you'll be round to eject them.

Just caught up. Loved the photos of the place (and the cats).  As for your dad, love Daisy's comments above x
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Thanks Daisy all that has sadly been tried several times but she just does not listen and her two siblings who says they agree with us do not agree and just lets her get on with it. I do not know if she has moved back in with him but we are over on Friday so we shall see. I just cannot have having her there all Friday and Saturday so hopefully she will go home but she may not. We live 1.5 hours away so sadly cannot just pop around but we do know when she has taken him back to hers as the home carers call my sister when my dad is not at home.

Lots has actually happened since my last update as Friday we started sorting the business stuff out and agreed we would use One Drive. Turns out DG has had all the files on her harddrive so we quickly got all of them moved which was a relief. I also got some of my workstuff moved to my own drive which I will need in the future. Friday we cleaned the house and the IT guy came to collect DGs computer. However disaster struck and the PC died. He did get a back up and then when he went to install it on the new refurbished laptop it had an error on it so he now has to get her a brand new one. So she cannot really do anything for about a week but strangely enough she is quite calm about it. She says she needs a bit of time off so that is good. She is not sleeping properly because of work (this is the stressful work she is trying to get away from).

We had my sisters family over on Saturday for dinner minus my nephew. The idea was they were collecting our chest freezer but now they will do that after the weekend as they have agreed to take a trailer to my mums (we will pay for the rental) to bring back the apothecary which is mega exciting. We got rid of the black leather sofa so its all ready for when we come back Saturday. Sunday is my BILs birthday so we will see my sisters family all that wekend plus my mum is coming back over.

Got one bedside table built for the guest bedroom but will do the other and put up the back wall panel later today. Got the shower curtain I ordered from Vinted it is perfect lovely bright green stripes and and manage to fold it so it does not matter it is too wide. I have ordered one for the other bathroom from Shein but it will be too short but we shall see. Looks like IKEA has some nice ones in the right length anyway.

I have seen this table on an auction site OMG I really want it. The previous owners had one like this when we looked at the house it would fit so well. https://bruun-rasmussen.dk/m/lots/B8F2DEA8568C?q=superellipse . There is so much space my table just looks lost. I know I should stop spending but we are a large family now and makes sense to get the chairs that actually fits the final table we chose rather than buy twice.

We also did a large order of stuff to collect in the German border shop. DG will go there tomorrow and then we will have a stack of cheap wine, beer, soft drinks and sweets plus marcipan. Should save a fair bit and she might get meat too as Denmark is just so expensive now. They have a sugar tax so it is a lot cheaper in Germany. As an example 3 bottles of 7Up concentrate for the soda stream is £12. That's cheaper than the UK!

Anyway I must get some work done, just claimed my £200 expenses that I had forgotten about they have sat there since July not very MSE.

Right late update from me but I have actually been doing some work lol.

DG has got the pre ordered stuff and a load more sweets which is not ideal but they will be used for presents for UK people. She said it was manic down there I mean she did chose to go at half term lol. She did have to fill in another form to export the deposit bottles as she has an irish passport and an english driving license normally you export to Scandinavia only.

I might order some mulch for the rest of the garden as the progress getting it from the tip is painfully slow. I can then also get some compost so I do not have to drag it home from the shops. I also need some stones for the edging but the place I found do not do the right size so might need to so some more research. I had planned to edge the new bed with metal sheets but the tip has free edging stones so might bring back more of them I will see.

Just been to the local shop to take back the bottles and cans for deposit. It is such a good system and it means you do not see many just being dumped. You can spend the money on the receipt you get in the shop (the machine is usually by the entrance). I bought some yellow sticker fish meat balls and had that for lunch. I did also get some chocolate but DG is bringing back a lot so really need to be good.

Morning I could not sleep after I woke up at 5.30am so made sense to get up even if it is even earlier in the UK: We had quite a productive evening yesterday and the to do list has gotten smaller. DG is still enjoying her time off and went to play golf after picking up my parcel and doing some shopping.

I have been asked to go to a conference in the UK mid November so looked at all options and I can fly for about £90 no luggage and work can pay for my train ticket. I will also need a train ticket from here to the airport but if I book in advance it is not too bad. I can also stay overnight with a colleague so saves hotels. It is not ideal as we are coming back 2 weeks later but I get to say goodbye in person and see a lot of the people I have worked with over the years so that will be nice. I can't book yet as I am waiting for them to say if it is 2 or 3 nights.

Last night we got a lot further with the guest bedroom. It now has two bed side tables and a back panel. It does look quite industrial with all the black metal (curtain poles are black too) but once we get curtains up, a nice duvet set, a rug and made a cushions for the blanket box it will soften it up. I will also put out black oval mirror in there at it would go perfectly. So far all we have bought for that room is two bedside tables and the back panel (£145) and then the Ikea curtain rail which I think was £40 all in. Hoping to find the rest cheaply so I am keeping an eye on Vinted but there are two windows so need two sets of curtains. We are keeping the door closed so it is quite nice to have a clean fresh room if we do get visitors.

We are going to the gym class in the new gym today at 10am and hopefully to the tip afterwards so I can get some more compost and stones for my new raised bed. DG is moaning about how it smells but it really does not especially at it is outside. We do need to buy a clothes airer as it is no longer possible to dry outside. I also need to hang a line under the carport as that will help if it is windy but might rain.

Tomorrow we are off to my mums at 1pm. My BIL is taking the trailer and we can get the chest of draws to my mum plus all the German goodies. Then coming back will be the apothecary which will be very exciting. I will do pictures when it is in situ. I cannot wait to put my nice vases and candle sticks on top of it. It is huge but will hopefully look nice. We might upcyscle it a bit eventually as it is little bit yellow pine but I will wait and see.

Afternoon what a busy weekend really not sure where the time went. We totally ran out of time for doing much Friday so only 1 gym session last week sadly. We did get to my mums and the apothecary got out easily on the Friday night. We had a nice dinner then early night. Saturday busy at my dads packing down his garden and general clean of the house. His crazy lady friend was not there so that was a massive relief. She had tried to get in the previous week. Again driven by her daughter but the door was for a change locked (the tenant downstairs never locks it) so she could not get in. Usually she sits on the back patio until my dad wakes up and then bangs on the windows but we have taped up the front gate so she cannot get in there. A small success. My dad looked better after having almost a week of solid 3 meals a day and he ate loads while we were there. His washing has been laundered so that is really good. We then drove back here and got the apothecary into our house and they took away the chest freezer so that was all good. It was lovely spending time with everyone incl my niece at my mums.

My mum then stayed at my sisters Saturday night and we came over for my BIL birthday Sunday. We ended up being 25 min late and had an argument in the car so DG was in a mood the whole afternoon. I get stressed when she is just so slow getting ready and then I did decide to hang the washing out plus we had to get some wrapping paper. It was all stupid really but we did get the pictures up in the lounge and decide what we are doing with the wall over the sofa. I will put a picture up so you can see it all in situ as I know I have been going on about it a lot.

DG still has not gotten her new laptop but it is arriving today. She should get it tomorrow. They have also started building to the side of us which is a bit noise especially when the tractors went past at 7am this morning. Luckily our bedroom is the other side of the house so we are not affected really. Once they have done the ground work they will move much further away but they need to connect up pipes etc first which is right at the other side of our house.

We are meeting the main guy who is selling the land behind us and he is coming with our neighbour so that will be good we can decide what is what around that ditch there is at the back. I am really excited for the next move on that but I do not think I will incorporate it into our garden it might just be an extra storage option for us and yes we will build a golf net there so we can practise at home. The main reason for buying it is to stop it being built on really.

I got my Shein order and sadly the cover was just too small so now I have two covers that are too small so annoying. I really wish I had not accidently left the old one behind in England. The rest of the order was fine I actually really like the curtains for the small bedroom they are too long but we can use the fabric for some cool cushions for the trundle bed.

Today has been a bit lax in terms of work but I have helped DGs work indirectly via someone I work with and that has possibly secured her work for the future if it all works out. Anyway must go now

Glad your dad seemed well, great idea buying the land behind  (I've always been in favour of this to stop anyone else having it of course lol)

Woken up a bit grumpy as it is early but I have to prep something for a meeting this morning. Looked out of the window and the new built next to us is definitely having a road right in front of our carport. We had enjoyed having that turning circle all to ourselves and being able to park there. I think the person who is building has bought all the plots on that side I think maybe 6 otherwise the road there would stop anyone from building there in the future. If he has so much land I am really hoping he will be keeping all cars and visitors to his own plots which are definitely not going to be right next to us so there should be plenty of space. It is just him and his wife who is going to live there and even with the wineyard there cannot be too much traffic once they are built. We did try to find out if they were building but we just could not. I guess that is because those plots are development ready so no need to seek permission you just buy and build and they had not been bought when we were buying (we think or our advisers were crap). Still not the end of the world and if he had bought a few plots no one will built next to us at least. There are actually only 3 houses on this small road so one more isnt going to overcrowd it.

Ordered a TV cabinet for the projector in the pool bar. DG wanted to go with a really fancy one but I persuaded her to go with a normal draw and modify it. She has bought a projector that shows the movies from the floor up rather than mounted in the ceiling as you would normally expect. It is quite fragile so she is worried someone might knock it if it is on the floor unprotected hence the draw. Stupid design if you ask me for a party room but she chose it I just paid for it. Also got a curtain track and dark green curtains from Ikea.

Almost ordered some pink curtains from Shein but will look in Ikea as they might work. We also Ordered the screen for the wall so the pool bar will definitely be ready soon for its first movie night. Will look in Ikea for a large rug they are just so expensive it is crazy.

DG should get her new laptop later on today been so long and the delivery was missed yesterday hence the extra day. We were going to go to the gym today but it is the meeting about the field and I would really like to get to Ikea today to pick up the click and collect as tomorrow I have that late meeting so Thursday is the earliest I can go. DG might have to do her own work Friday but I can take a look at the business stuff and get moving on the website.

I will post a picture of the lounge I have also decided after researching the prints I already have that they do not do them any more and I like them a lot so might just have to find a way to fit them in. They are no longer going to the tip they are too nice and valuable for that lol.
