Thanks savingholmes they just overpriced it by £5K on an £9K so wildly out and I remember how you hear they drop the price last minute at pick up. I will try them again next step is to take pictures of it.
Weekend was difficult seeing my dad in that state and having to deal with that woman she is even worse than she was. My dad has dementia and so does she but in different forms. He was pleased to see us and pleased with everything we did for him. We even got him away from her for an evening spending time at my mums having coffee and cake and later dinner that was good. It was also good reconnecting with my sister again she has really carried a load since April and I think she is pleased I am helping now but I am just so clueless as to what is best. It was lovely to see my mum again and spend time with her definite bonus of living here even if my parent are 1h 40min away and it costs £50 return on the bridge.
So no progress has been made on the house but the freezer has now had it door rehung which was easy however we do need a new sockets on that side of the utility room. DG has progressed in the pool bar so that is almost clear and the lawn/wilderness has been cut. All the cuttings are there so I need to rake them and take them to the tip. We have a click and collect tonight in the larger town so can go to the tip on the way. This morning we moved a cabinet in the dinning room to a different wall and it looks really good. We can also put a lamp on it to give some colour and finally get a box opened and done. We hope to find a remote for the diffuser as without it will not work. I did throw some paper out from that box but most of it is intact. Fingers crossed.
Trip to UK is now getting closer sorted with my niece about cat sitting and my mum is coming to pick me up. We do need to order a few things to bring back but I have added the case to my booking so that is done at least. Getting the grey cat flap just need someone to fit it.
I do not have too much work this week which is just as well. Obviously this is the week I might get told if I have got VR. They have to tell me before they tell everyone else on the 15th but how soon they do that this week remains to be seen.
Took some apples to my mum she made a really delish Danish apple cake well it is more of a trifle. I should really pick some more or make more juice and freeze it. It is however going to be a busy week with shopping tonight, golf tomorrow after work and then there is only Weds and Thurs left. Weather is great so that is good and I do need to clean the house before my niece comes. It is very messy.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Plan to move to Denmark for FIRE by Autumn 2025 “May your decisions reflect your hopes not your fears”

Breaking news I have got my voluntary redundancy I cannot quite believe it and they are clearly sad to let me go but understands I wish to move and taking the money to help with it. I am so relived unfortunately I have to work until 11th December most likely but we shall see I do have some leave left I think 3 or 4 weeks.
Cannot believe it has all come together. End of an era of me being employed and now onto a different stage working towards FIRE and cutting down. I cannot wait. So excited.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Great that you have got your voluntary redundancy. I was worried that they would say well that's one we don't have to pay to go. Excellent news.3

High five!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
Thanks all just lost a massive post as my laptop went off line and I had to restart I did also save a copy but whatever. I am chuffed I did keep it quiet I was moving so they had no idea. They knew I eventually wanted to move but I never set a timescale other than soon. I do not feel guilty about it I have worked in that sector for over 25 years and done my fair share of stressful low paid roles. Yes this was well paid and generous redundancy for 5 years (shame I was 2 weeks off getting my full 6 years).
We did get our click and collect shopping yesterday DG ordered so much ice we almost needed to turn the old freezer on. We may get a second freezer for bulk in the pool bar as we do do a lot of batch cooking. Also meat is cheaper in bulk here so worth getting.
Ikea was shut by the time we got there so McD for £30 but it was a nice Danish on with bearnaise we did enjoy it and a Milkshake with ice-cream and double expresso yummy.
Done all the photos for the car so chatting to one company just now to get that sorted.Save £12k in 25 No 49
