Freezers are better in a utility room which can be kept cooler than the main part of the house, so good that you have room there.

Congrats on the move. It’s all so exciting and you’ve done the hard bit. As for unpacking - as long as you have enough to cook and can sleep at night, there’s no immediate rush to unpack everything.

Congratulations on finally making it to your new home.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Thanks all I’ve not been updating here assail I have is my phone. Sadly I plugged my work laptop into our new broadband and it realised it was no longer in the uk. I’ve had to own up to work and they are considering if they will allow me to log on. I managed to get my work emails via my phone but it’s impossible to do any work like this.

Only possible option is to buy a new laptop which I need anyway and try to set it up for work. I know this can be done but can I do it myself? Not sure but at least I would have a big screen and can do stuff rather that just have a phone. Made me realise how hard life must be for those with just a smart phone.

I’ll hear next week about my voluntary redundancy or the week after won’t be as late as 15/9. If they do not allow me access I’ll take compassionate leave for 5 days then I think it will be normal leave which then takes us up to 15/9 when I’m back in the UK.

I do need a laptop anyway so maybe that’s the plan as this is really irritating. Feels like your whole life is affected. Not nice.

Golf club is lovely and so are the ladies we had dinner with them and got a warm welcome. Playing Sunday in a putting comp.

Cats are fine and the house slowly coming g together. Loads to do but sofa arrives tomorrow and freezer Thursday.

Bought premium bonds for DG and I. Still not shuffled the other amounts around but really need to so I can earn some interest. The £ is quite low but the money needs investing.

I’ll try and update more right now I’m feeling bad that I cannot do my work but then again as soon as I know about my VR I can resign and then do I care.

Congratulations! Best wishes in your new home. Great to hear it's all coming together, sorry to hear that the work laptop didn't work and I really hope you can either get it sorted or get voluntary redundancy -that would be great!

Good luck with all of the unpacking and organising, of course you have been playing golf already, hope you enjoyed it!!

will there be repercussions do you think?  I'm sure in civil service there were for logging on to secure networks from abroad.  I think it was because with more homeworking people were thinking they could go off on holiday without telling anyone so they didn't have to use their leave and it was putting networks at risk due to signing on from different parts of the country and the world.  I think contract small prints were updated to include guidance about homeworking.  Hopefully your work are ok about it all  :)

Glad you are settling in.  What you back for in September?
