Morning busy here as always and now work has ramped up too which is not convenient. I mean how rude I have to do work!!.

Got message to say one part of the plants will be sent now so that is great they will definitely arrive. I am not to fussed about the others so that is fine I am just glad I get the first ones.

I am going to tell my manager about the voluntary redundancy next week and then complete the form before I go on leave. I have told the Union (I am not a member) so they know and they might do some advice I am not sure really. I cannot attend the meeting today so I am not really fussed as it is the big one.

Got email from Virgin they want more information about our move so I have sent more. Not sure how I can give them my mortgage details and rental agreement but they now have as well as the deeds and the purchase agreement a copy of my new internet provider and electricity company. Hopefully that will be sufficient. I really hope so I thought it was sorted.

Anyway also got a message from the Danish tax people they want proof I have bought the house which is fine I can send that. However they want me to register as temp working in Denmark but the other option was to live permanently in Denmark which I am not. I have done a message to them and explained but I do not know if that is right. I am allowed to be there without working due to my passport but I need to make sure they do not make me liable for tax.

Now the the £5 coins have sold I will take out the £70 in Ebay and that can go in joint funds. We do need to pay for the cat certificates next week but that should now be the last expense for the move.

I have also paid the Danish insurance so just need to send proof to the lawyers that it has been paid. The current owner pays half of the cheaper insurance I have gone slightly higher.

I have arranged with the cleaner she will come next Friday and clean the house as they pack up stuff. I cannot believe the packing starts in a week. Scary stuff my stomach is doing flight and fight but everything is under control it really is.

Anyway here is the new to do list it is not bad really. Just the pension stuff to do but I might wait until I have had my pensionwise appointment on Thursday.

    Pay Danish insurance DONE
Send proof of insurance paid to lawyers.
    Order two more Echo dots
Start cancelling all subscriptions (done golf, Virgin CO2U, sewerage paid final bill, Council Tax, Gas/Electric, Water, home insurance) Still to do car insurance small car
Relist on Freegle with better photos. DONE but still not taken
Contact pensions company x 2 to ask for 25% to be taken out. This bit is super scary as the markets are down so need to make sure it stays invested.
Sell Candle stick - listed on ebay DONE
Try to sell/exchange the £5 coins DONE need to post
Decide if I cancel the plants or keep them and hope they arrive. DONE

Hope you continue your diary TG. I am a lurker !
Are you hoping to import the plants into Denmark from the Uk? This could be a problem for you. Plant material is often not allowed cross border as they can carry diseases or bugs which could have a bad impact on the Danish ecology.

Loanranger21 thanks for popping in yes I was going to sneak a few cuttings and tiny plug plants in the car with us but as you said not a good thing but so tempting. I would like to continue my diary I think it really help having that bit of off loading in the mornings so thanks for the encouragement.

I cannot believe in a weeks time we will be packing the car ready to go. It does feel really unreal it is so close now. I want to get the food in the kitchen looked through this weekend as we are off to my friend on Saturday and I can take what we do not use next week to him. I want to chuck most of my spices and get the jars cleaned out plus I have to chuck my Danish Rye Flour mix as I never made the bread and it is already out of date. Stupid really but soon I can just buy ryebread and will not have to make it.

Got my Quidco cashback and have order the Echo Dot the other one will be done by DG once she gets some of her cashback so they do become free at least.

Cleaner is all good about coming on Friday so that is a relief. Also got message from Danish Tax people that they have registered me for tax for the house only not income which is just what I wanted. I will need to register but lets get this job out of the way first. I did not hear anything else about a meeting re Voluntary redundancy so think I will do my thing. I do feel crap if they wont let me work from Denmark as I will have things to do but then again it is a stupid rule and now that Denmark definitely know I am not working there well should I really break the rules.

I think that is it for now one week to wrap the last 31 years up. I was actually looking at the stuff we are taking and there is actually stuff I took that very first time I moved over. I think I paid for 2 m2 to be moved. Most of that is obviously long gone in the bin (I recently threw my well loved set of dictionaries out did we really have to use that). Anyway chat tomorrow and enjoy the almost start of the weekend.

Just edited to say Virgin is not giving up they want more proof by 5-9-25 so trying to work out how I can send them a utility bill after 2 weeks of owning the property. I can get a bank statement to them at least so should get over the line. Also sent proof to Danish lawyers so another thing off the list.

    Pay Danish insurance DONE

Butterflies big time now. Played a nice round of golf last night one beer each paid for by my winnings.

A bit of a late night but did go in the hottub which was lovely. Today I’ve got the pots I want to take emptied. Founds some were really rusted so leaving one behind it’s not worth it. I still have to prune a bit but then I think that’s the majority of garden done. Feels sad doing this but I’ve got a new garden waiting for me which is lovely.

Need to pick up IKEA order from post office and get freebie cakes from Lidl plus add stuff to their food bank.

Need to be at our friends at 6pm so plenty of time to get ready. Golf tomorrow with friends using up some freebie vouchers.

TG is having a bit of a meltdown so thought I would come here and off load it is all getting a bit too much. Weekend was lovely and it was great seeing our friends and their grown up children again. We then played golf Sunday with our friends which was lovely too but took most of the day.

In full panic mode this morning but it is so close now. I have had some more thoughts around my redundancy and thanks to speaking to a friend and a very nice IT guy in Denmark I now have a solution to being able to work in Denmark incognito so that feels a relief to say the least.

I had got the wrong address for the post redirection but that has now been cancelled and I have set it up for the right one now. How annoying but I think it is when things happen too fast just glad i realised before it started as I should get a refund now.

Everything just feels such a mess and I feel like we are missing lots of stuff. I do not think we are and we do not have to rush off so there is time to get the final few bits done when everything is packed up. I do get why they say it is stressful to move house I really do think it is.

I am going to take things step by step and hope I do not forget anything otherwise just try to fix it.

We have got the VintedCashCow stuff all packed up ready to go and also stopped all the Ebay stuff. We have contacted the auction house and hopefully they will sell the silver candle stick for us.

I will try to breathe and keep calm but it is almost too much all of this.

it is stressful moving as so many things are in the control of other people.   You've definitely made it a wee bit more stressful for yourself by keeping it secret from your work so you won't be getting support from colleagues asking how its all going, plus you are having to use headspace remembering to keep it quiet.

Normally people have time off so they can do some of these things plus there is some things that you simply can't do till the final days so keeping lists headed Monday, Tuesday etc for this week and writing in under the relevant day helps get it out your head whenever you think of something.

Also, be kind.  Its a huge move you are doing.  Its stressful enough when you are moving just round the corner but you are going a lot further than that!

As long as you have organised for certain essential things to move, everything else will be fine.  Yes some thing might get broken, yes some thing might get lost but almost everything is replacable and if its terribly sentimental, you'll still have your memories.

    Essential things

You, your wife, your pets, your passports and tickets, the contact details of your movers

Everything else can be replaced (even if it is a pain in the tonsils to have to do it).  So breathe, sit quietly, take a half day and sit in the garden, it will all be fine xxxxxxxx
