Good luck with the move TG.  It seems to have come around really quickly, you’ll get there with the to do list, you have planned well. I hope the remote working works out well. Looking forward to hearing about your new life in Denmark, should you choose to share with us.  I’ve followed your diary for years but not commented often, so thank you for the years of interesting posts.  Xx

Thanks stoplurking lovely to hear from you and yes I will continue to post I need this kind of headspace so thanks for posting.

Postponed a meeting yesterday to today but I just could not face it it was so hot and I wanted to go in the pool instead. Today I will be a lot busier.

So the plan was for a friend to come and pick up some plants and some stuff of hers we have here after our party (she was the one who helped us). She is now coming tomorrow and we are dropping the other car off at our friends tonight instead. We are also going out for dinner tonight instead of tomorrow but that is fine as we have no sofas after today.

Still no sign of the plants so will ask for a refund on Friday but again another thing to do.

There is still a lot to do but I am off on Friday so can get some stuff done while they are loading the van. The to do list has to be done. I am sure it will be.

So the packers are here and the stress levels have been high since yesterday. I took a load of stuff to my friends house last night and we had dinner. It was a bit rushed but we were both tired and there was still so much to do as we had moved it from Thurs to Weds because of her. I also had loads of meetings yesterday but the good news is I have told my manager I am going for Voluntary Redundancy and she is supportive of me which is great. I gave very brief reasons and obviously did not say anything about moving. She suggested I do not apply until after I am back from leave. It only takes 2 min to apply no reasons needs to be given so that is easy so I might wait I might not. I have 4 days after I am back from leave to apply so plenty of time.

Back to the move the packers today are actually really nice and they are happy to take stuff we were told was a no go so that is helpful. The car is also now ready to pack so that helps too. Just need my friend to pick up the plants that will be really helpful when she does. Still no sign of those other plants so will definitely ask for a refund they must be well dead by now.

Hi tallgirl, so exciting that your move is almost here! I'm another rare poster who enjoys reading your diary so am really glad you're going to continue posting as it'll be so interesting to read about your life in Denmark. Moving days are so stressful at the best of times, but going to another country must be on another level - I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that it all goes as smoothly as possible - so much to do, but you sound really organised!

I am not sure if I am remembering properly but.  Do I remember you saying that if you leave your pension tax free amount until you have moved abroad then it will no longer be tax free?

Thanks Catclaires it is a lot but we are almost there just the massive drive to do after Friday. Packers are really good and getting on with it. As for organised I still have to take stuff to the charity shop tomorrow and we need a last visit to the bottle bank.

Badmemory you are right I am taking the 25% but I wanted a last Pensionwise app to make sure I had got it all understood ok. I am not officially moving now until my job has ended. As an EU passport holder I am allowed to stay in Denmark without registering for tax purposes for up to 3 months.
"However, you may stay here for a period not exceeding three consecutive months, or for 180 days within any 12-month period, without becoming fully liable to tax. This presupposes that your stay is in the nature of holidays and is not associated with any form of employment."

My pensionwise app is today so I am going to action getting the money out straight after or tomorrow first thing. I just have not had the headspace to do it until now that is why it has been on the to do list forever.

DG is so struggling she cannot get through to Vodaphone to add EU roaming to her contact. It is so stupid mine is included but hers is £20 per 15 days. I am not sure what she is going to do but she does kind of need it. I am glad I am with EE at least I do not have that hassle. Problem is she is in a contract until Feb 27 and is Sim only.

To be honest I found pensionwise about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.  But it was something that was required, so I did it.  The conversation went along the lines of - I am hoping to do this, can I do this? Yes.  Have you anything different to suggest - we aren't allowed to make suggestions.  A voice in my head was then screaming well why am I bothering ringing you then.  I did remain polite & thanked them.

Had to come on and check in with how you are doing. Sounds so stressful with all the little things that need doing. Daisy is right it's just the important things that actually matter. If it all really gets too much, you could cross off 50 percent of your list as not important.

Good luck in these last few days and with the drive, hope it all goes well, rooting for you!

Another drama the calmers for the cats got packed so had to grovel and get them to get them out for us. Not great as DG had a major meltdown. Sorted now but both cats not happy obviously. We now have 6 people to pack for us and they recon they will be done by noon tomorrow so we can actually set off really early.
