The Doogee phone sounds ideal for Mr SA @rachmac3. I've never (touches wood) broken a phone in all the years I've had them and still have all my old phones in pristine condition, some of them must be museum pieces by now 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Afternoon all.
Payday eve so all quiet on the money front. Today is a NSD.
Starting to feel overwhelmed by all the stuff to do before we go away next week. I've made a list of what I need to do and divided tasks into the number of days I have to do them in. If I earmark one day for cleaning, one for gardening and one for packing that makes it feel easier. I've put through a day's leave for the Monday after we get back so I've got an extra day tagged onto the weekend to unwind before it's back to the grindstone.
It probably doesn't help that I've set myself a challenge to finish my current book before Tuesday, I'm just over halfway through with another 21 chapters to go, it's a thick book!
Work isn't helping either as people are bombarding me with things to do before I break up. If I had £1 for every time I've heard 'can you just' this week.
I need to pick up the young cat's flea and worming treatment from the vets on the way home from work tomorrow so I'm going to finish at lunchtime then catch the bus to the vets. While I'm down that way I need to go to B&M for a few bits I'm struggling to find elsewhere. I'm going to get an all day bus ticket and will get the bus to work, another to the vets and another one back home.
I always seem to have vet dealings immediately prior or just after a holiday and can you believe the dog is due her annual booster the week after we get back. All booked in now.
Today's exercise has been dog walking this morning, a lunchtime weights session and resistance bands is on tonight to replace Zumba.
Tonight's dinner is a concoction of leek, mushrooms, pepper, courgette and spinach with tagliatelle with a splodge of cream cheese as a sauce. Lunch was a concoction of chickpeas, tuna, olives and salad bits. Can you tell I'm using up the contents of my fridge 😆

I have to say I don't get much of the BP stuff. My mother was on BP meds at 60 even though she went to the gym at least 3 times a week & several exercise classes every week. I am now 79 & my BP so far is fine. My DS in his early 40s, lives with me & eats what I eat/cook. They have just insisted he has statins, so not a watch your diet & come back in 6 months & see how it is going, just you need them.4

I think the animals plan these things @Sun_Addict my chicken is ill again and my dogs are due their check up and injections 3 days before I go on holiday. Given our past luck I'm going to ask if we can postpone for a week.Debts 04/01/25 01/10/25

One of my former bosses used to push back requests for "can you just" by saying "your lack of forward planning is not a valid reason to ask my PA to take on extra work"What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?6

@Sun_Addict coming out of lurkdom to say how delighted I am you have booked the lounge for Mr SA. You deserve a lovely, relaxed time as the holiday begins. He'll be happy with coffee and bacon rolls, and you'll have some well-earned time to yourself. Don't ever feel guilty about spending money on that kind of treat. It's worth every penny.4

Out of Office is on 🥳 Not just now by the way, I finished at 12.30.Had to resort to asking a bloke at work to help me unscrew the lid of my Thermos cup this morning because it wouldn’t budge. He couldn’t do it either then suddenly I managed it. It must’ve been the vacuum seal. What a palaver 🤣Blooming buses, no wonder I don’t catch them much. I left work at 12.30 to catch the 12.50 bus to the retail park that only runs every 30 minutes. It was cancelled 😖 So the 13.20 bus it was. On the way back home caught a different bus that has changed its route since I last caught it which has doubled the journey time. I had a small panic at one stage as it was heading in a completely different direction to where I wanted to go but then turned round.Picked up the cat’s flea/worming treatment from the vets, free birthday biscuits from MnS, then on to BnM with my extensive list. I annoyingly didn’t get everything so ended up in BnQ for most of the rest.Got caught in a freak torrential downpour that flash flooded everywhere and had to wade through deep puddles to get to the bus stop.Enjoyed a long soak in the bath when I finally got back home.Toe nails painted ready for holiday, having my finger nails done tomorrow.Payday today, money shuffle done, just waiting for Monday to feed the regular savers.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8

We usually book the lounge for that very reason especially as we’ve been caught out before when the airport is busy. It’s nice to have a cheeky glass of fizz after I’ve looked around the shops too.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
Happy Saturday 🥂
Went to Lid! this morning and managed to get another 2 bags of the XXL frozen mixed fruit. I’m very impressed with the quality of the fruit and they’re brilliant in my overnight oats.Had my nails done ready for holiday. I’ve gone for Beach Party (coral) with gold glitter on top. While I was there booked in my nails for DS’s wedding. This afternoon I got out the suitcases but that’s as far as I’ve got. Mr SA is creating a pile of things he wants to take, had to remind him we’re only going for 3 nights and he won’t need lots of shoes and man bags. Also put together a flat pack laundry station to replace the washing basket on the landing. It consists of two separate laundry hampers, one for darks and one for lights plus two smaller ones which I’m using to store loo rolls. As it takes up more room than the previous basket I’m expecting Mr SA will stumble into it at some stage. I’ve reutilised the old washing basket to store cleaning gadgets, brushes etc in the cupboard under the stairs so they’re all together tidily.I’m on target to finish my book before holiday with only 9 chapters to go.Tonight’s dinner is a pizza slice from freezer stocks with salad and wedges. Salad leaves and tomatoes are from the greenhouse.Exercise was walking to/from Lid! then to/from the beauty salon.Managed to get two loads of washing dry and ironed.DD is working tomorrow so that’s earmarked for cleaning. Also going to put some flowers on my mum’s grave as it’s 25 years tomorrow since I lost her.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
Your tales about Mr F's holiday packing do make me smile. I also love how you have a sneaky look in his suitcase to check none of the surplus items on the wishlist have been snuck in. I have the opposite problem........trying to convince Mr F that when we book Autumn holidays in windswept UK coastal areas, it is very much NOT over-the-top to pack his waterproof coat!
