Removing the trees has highlighted some of the fence panels between us and next door need replacing. Technically they belong to next door but we often go halves with them and they fetch them and put them up.

I was puzzled as to why the closed Cov account money hadn’t hit the bank account after allegedly closing it yesterday. Just been in to check and it was still open! So closed it again and the money should hopefully transfer tomorrow now. What a faff!

The problem with next door having to pay for replacement fencing is that you have to live with looking at it.  That alone can make it worthwhile sharing.  Around here we have always done the pay for the correct side yourself but I think I may need to go at least halves with next door if I want to have really nice fencing.  They are not being awkward or anything it is just new mortgage, new young family so only one working.  I think at some point next year it may come down to a do you mind if I? type conversation.  To let them think they are doing me a favour by letting me...

We’ve always gone halvsies too (although at our last place we got stuck paying for them all

We have been lucky never to have fences to contend with.

It was all privet hedges at our old house. The new one is all walls which we own. No shared boundary.
