I always put a square of dark chocolate in my chilli - I never thought of using cocoa powder, but I'm certainly going to give that a try.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

A lot of chill recipes include a couple of squares of dark chocolate. It does seem to enhance the flavour somehow. I think that it's traditional in some South American countries to have chilli in hot chocolate drinks too. I might have to try that.

I wouldn't put choc in but cocoa powder is a thought.  I won't tell DS as he is the one who uses cocoa powder!

I've been out buying ingredients for the chilli and noticed that some of the spices are measured in tablespoons not teaspoons., which sounds right for the whole quantity but not for my very English spice collection! I think I need to move to somewhere with a multicultural supermarket.

I have most of my recipes that I use all the time, (yes doing them once a week for the last 40 years does not mean I remember them) typed & laminated.  They used to be just typed but laminated you can wipe over.  They can be quite novel.  15gm of melted butter in one part of the recipe & 2oz of butter in another.  I still have no idea how I got there but luckily my scales will switch from one to the other.  All these years cooking & I still can't manage without a recipe!!
