It is a shame for town centres that the business rates they have to pay are so much higher than thosein out of town centres. No wonder town centres are dying.

I do the vast majority of shopping online since looking after mum even if it is more expensive just because online is so EASY. No parking worries, no worries if they don't have it, I don't spend extra money, delivery on a particular day. Parking is a big thing for me, so many rules and regulations about when and where I can park.
I miss walking around like I did pre covid, it is funny how my friends and I haven't gone back to it.Nevertheless she persisted.3 -
Morning all, happy hump day.
WFH again today as I've swapped my days so I can go into the office tomorrow to meet some work friends for lunch.
Mid week finance check done cc balance cleared, I've sent £9.00 to the Christmas pot, £250 to the holiday pot and the maximum amount of £500 to the Cov RS.
Regular saver balances to date:
Coventry RS £3500.00
YBS Christmas Saver £2100.00
Principality RS £1250.00
Total £6850.00
All of them mature before Christmas and are at interest rates of around 5% or thereabouts. When they mature the Cov one is destined to be added to the emergency fund, YBS is Christmas and 1p saver pots with the balance to go to the home improvements pot, Principality is destined for the home improvements pot. I have it all planned out 😁
I've had a refund from one of my magazine subscriptions as I queried why I was receiving two copies a month. They said it was because I had two subscriptions running one by direct debit and one via Paypal. They cancelled the direct debit one and credited the Paypal one with an extra copy as a goodwill gesture. However I can't find any record of me paying for a subscription in Paypal This is really strange. I'm sure it will all come out in the wash.
Today's exercise is dog walking later this morning, a lunchtime session from the FitOn app and Zumba at 6pm.
Tonight's dinner is the portion of vegan moussaka I couldn't fit in the freezer with a side salad.
Not sure whether it will be a NSD as I might book the airport lounge today. I would also like to see if there are any suitable seats left for the Gary Davies 80s roadshow next month. I also need to ring Nationwide and move the £100 overpayment from the additional borrowing to the mortgage. Oh and check in online and print boarding passes.
Cleaning will be the bathroom and a general tidy/clean round ready to go back to the office tomorrow.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -
In typical fashion after I've bought Mr SA all that stuff from MnS, I've received a load of vouchers from them today. This happens almost every time I buy anything from there, although that's not so often these days.
Nationwide have saved me a phone call as they've sent me a letter today telling me to cancel the standing order once the final payment has been taken. I'll then set up the £100 overpayment for the mortgage to start from October, I'll be able to do this online. We'll be on holiday when the final payment goes out so can raise a celebratory glass or two.
It has ended up as a NSD after all as I still haven't booked the theatre tickets or the airport lounge.
The weather is lovely here today. I've got loads of washing dry. I was surprised how hot it was when I sat outside to eat my lunch, I didn't want to go back inside to work.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
I think that is a familiar thing with many retailers. I find as soon as I buy things from Mr S, the next week I will be sent offers for the same items. They obviously want us to keep buying the same things.
Weather been lovely here as well, did a bit in the garden this morning and then spent a nice hour sat in the sunshineMaking the debt go down and savings go up

You have done well with the regular savings. We have the YBS Christmas saver but unfortunately since retiring cannot do as many regular savings accounts as previously. I have the same thing of keeping track of the regular savers - we each have a Pr1nc1pal1ty Xmas one, I have a FD and a Cov one too - those are all from joint funds, and then I have a personal NW start2save as well. I need to get my head fully around when each mature and what we can do about keeping any or all going once we move. The FD is a no brainer with its 7%, but the others will all be up for scrutiny around renewing when they finish. I'm probably inclined to keep throwing at least something at Cov though - they are at least fairly fair when it comes to rate rises.
As for plans for the proceeds - right now it will be throwing them between the long term fund to rebuild there, and probably some to the mortgage I think.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Your savings pots are looking very healthy. I'm trying to spread out my regular savings accounts - my first direct (£300 a month) matures in October and the Skipton (£250 a month) matures next July so I'm going to open another product in February/March. It helps me stay disciplined with saving if the money moves across automatically and regularly.

That’s another working week done.Have been in the office today as I was meeting my work friends.I couldn’t believe how hot it was when I got outside. Shame I missed the best part of such a beautiful day.I asked Mr SA to wait in for a parcel that had a 4 hour time slot and he didn’t 😞 I wouldn’t mind but it’s my birthday present from him. They will attempt re delivery tomorrow. For the nosy amongst you 😆 it’s a couple of Temple Sp@ gift sets with mini sizes I can take on holiday. I love their stuff it smells amazing. Not a NSD as I had to go to L!dl on the way home plus I bought Jamie Oliver’s Seven cookbook for £1 in the cheap shop near work, brand new just slightly dog eared. I’m hanging on for them to get his new one in 😆 I’m never paying full price for a cookbook again as long as that shop is in existence.Exercise was walking to/from work plus a Zumba class at 7pm. 25,407 steps in total.Tonight’s dinner was a stir fry.I need to find somewhere to hide my work bag tomorrow where Mr SA won’t stumble across it. I’m considering emptying it of its contents, hiding them and using the bag for shopping as he’s bound to notice it’s missing when I get back home. I’ll have to leave the house early so as not to arouse suspicion but I’ll take my time and go and have a coffee before the shops open. I wish I didn’t have to do this, it’s a blooming nuisance, but it’s the only way I can get some time to myself.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8
