I could shadow someone in the higher grade to see what it entailed but I’m pretty certain it would be more or less exactly the same as my current role.

If that turned out to be the case, it might be a good move in terms of pay - but would it trap you into anything you aren't keen on?

I’m only interested in a private office role as that’s all I’ve ever done. The job descriptions are everything I do now but getting paid more for it basically.

Always worth a thought about the promotion

It’s such a faff where I work getting promotion, even if you’re fully qualified for the post you still have to throw your hat in the ring with random people who may have no experience whatsoever but are good at bluffing. You have to not only fill out the application but provide evidence based competency statements that are scored. Experience isn’t taken into account. If you’re lucky enough to be selected for interview you then have to talk about scenarios when you did x, y, z and then face a barrage of questions. Competition for jobs on promotion is fierce, everyone wants more money and the majority don’t care what they do just as long as it’s at the higher grade. This is what puts me off. The whole process is extremely stressful and I’m not sure I can cope with that at the moment. 

Anyway that aside I’ve not been sat down long, usually in bed by now but have had to clear up one of Mr SA’s accidents. He forgot to take his tablet unfortunately. The least said about that the better. 

Rescued yet another frog from the young cat and made her come in the house which she wasn’t happy about and was very vocal in her protests. She’s a very loud cat!

It ended up a NSD and definitely not taking him into town tomorrow for the canvas shoes, he never knew that was an option anyway.

Morning happy Friday 😎

Day off work today 🥳 I plan to have a productive day in between sitting in the garden with my book. I’m glad I didn’t suggest the town trip to Mr SA. I need a day to crack on with things.

I need to go to the shops this morning. I might go to the big Mr T today instead of tomorrow so it won’t be such a rush in the morning to get everything done before DS and the GKs visit. 

I picked some mangetout and green beans from the garden 🙂 Also have some sweet peas in a vase. Mr SA grumbled that I picked them so had to tell him that’s what you’re supposed to do 🙄 I’ve got loads of raspberries and blackberries coming too. The garden is being very productive right now.

The young cat is already in her frog watching hideout by the pond. She sits in between the ferns and has dug out a seating area for herself. You can just see her black fur.

Your promotion steps sound just like ours. It’s often who talk the talk that get the job, rather than the quieter ones who can walk the walk and just plough on with everything.
