That’s another week done.It was my in the office day today, it was really quiet, hardly anyone there. I should’ve been on leave today to meet up with friends for lunch but thanks to yet another rail strike 😡 we had to reschedule as the only way to get there is via train. As it was so quiet I took some flexi time out to go to B&M to look for some small storage baskets but couldn’t find any suitable ones. I did pick up a few other bits while I was there mostly cleaning type bits. I also finished early as I got everything done I needed to work wise and I have loads of flexi built up.
Stopped off at Lidl on the way home and used my £2 off voucher. I also had a voucher for a free packet of biscuits which I put in the food bank box.
I’ve had a letter from the hospital asking if I’d take part in a clinical trial. I had a mammogram a few weeks ago which came back clear, but as I apparently have dense breast tissue, it can mask problems as I have more cells than people who have normal fatty tissue. They’re offering me ‘gold star’ screening. I had no idea I had this, apparently it’s more common in women with low BMI, although mine is in the lower range of healthy it’s definitely not too low. The screening is entirely voluntary it’s for research purposes. Not sure what to do, I hate having mammograms at the best of times and this one involves being injected with dye 😬 On the other hand I’m being offered very good screening and helping with research. Thoughts on a postcard please.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7 -
I would go for it
extra screening will not harm you, might help you and will certainly help someone else in the future5 -
I say go for it too.
You will benefit others plus you will have full screening for yourself.
When I was part of a trial I was monitored for things other than the specific trial issue.
I had the sort of tests I found impossible to access through my GP. Then there is your gold standard breast screening. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

I would take part in the screening research (not that I would be offered it with my highly curvaceous BMI). It means you should get really good screening yourself & could be part of a project which ends up saving lives.

Thank you all for your thoughts so far. I am leaning towards doing it. It would give me peace of mind too. I hate medical appointments though and avoid them like the plague. I very rarely go to the doctors I’m very fortunate I don’t have any medical conditions and don’t take any medication. I had a well woman check up a couple of years ago and everything came back spot on.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Well, if you decide against it, we know where to find plenty of willing volunteers.
My take on it is
a) all the above and
b) Mr SA wouldn't be likely to go, so perhaps you could meet up with a friend afterwards and have some time for yourself?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
