For several years we used to eat out on either Christmas Eve or Boxing Day rather than the day itself for a variety of reasons but resulting in the same menu for half the price, sometimes less.

Not sure yet, probably put it in my retirement fund.

Mr SA eventually got out with the dog around 3pm when the rain eased off slightly. I couldn’t go with them as I was taking minutes of a meeting. I managed to do 12,000 steps despite not going out as I did a 30 minutes Get Fit With Rick walking session and then the Zumba class later.
After work had a wander down to the greenhouse after I’d logged off to check on the plants, all doing well.

Morning all, happy Friday.
Working in the office today but finishing just after lunch. I have a few places to go in the city centre then I need to go to Lid! and I have a hair appointment later.
Picked up my free coffee from Ner0 on the way to work so will enjoy that later. I take my Therm0s mug so get an extra stamp for using my own cup and have two full stamp cards in the app so more free coffees for spending nothing 🙂
I need to double check Mr SA's hospital appointment on Monday as it's changed from the time/date on the original letter and I've only got Mr SA's word for this and we all know he's not a reliable source of information. I thought they would've sent a confirmation text at least.
Talking of Mr SA, he's doing well with his cutting down on beer challenge, I didn't think he would do it but I think all the various tests have spurred him on. He used to smoke when I first met him and despite nagging he wouldn't give up/cut down until his dad passed away from lung cancer which was definitely caused by smoking. He gave up shortly afterwards, went cold turkey, and hasn't lapsed at all in 30 years.
Today's exercise is walking to/from work and I might do a short yoga session when I get back from the hairdressers. I was really feeling the effects of doing the Pilates abs session yesterday when I got out of bed this morning!
I'm making mushroom and spinach curry for tonight's dinner, recipe is from PON Budget cookbook. I'm challenging myself to revisit some of my old cookbooks I've not used for a while.

I'm also enjoying revisiting cookbooks & old recipes atm.
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!2 -
I picked up a 'Farmhouse Fare' book from the early 1970s recently (car boot sale): recipes include clotted cream, with instructions starting right after you've finished the milking! Somehow I don't think I will be following that one (we don't have room for the large pans to separate the cream, for a start; I don't have an assistant to help me carry them as it wouldn't help DH's back, and I don't happen to have a cow! Nevertheless 'old' cookery books, in the sense of ones we've used, but not recently, are a very good idea. In fact I bumped into the daughter of a former colleague recently and she commented that as a family they had used a particular pasta recipe the night before. Her Mum had commented that my family call that recipe by her name as she introduced it to us when all our kids were small. Old recipes are like old friends. 😊

I haven’t got any cookbooks that old @Cherryfudge 😆All of mine are less than 10 years old.

Unexpected success in city centre visit as I went in B0yes for a plant spray bottle and spotted some Mediterranean pasta bowls I’ve been looking for some for ages. Bought a couple, really pleased with them.
Also a lovely dress I’d had my eye on in New L00k had reduced a fair bit although had to order it online to get the petite size. Will come out of my personal spends pot. I’m going to The Ivy with friends next month so will be ideal for that occasion.
Got home to find Mr SA had an accident on the landing carpet 😞Had 20 minutes between getting home and going to the hairdressers which was spent trying to clean the carpet.
Today’s step count 24,634.
No yoga as I just wanted a soak in the bath by the time I got back from the hairdressers. Put on a shower cap to try and preserve my newly styled hair from the steam.
I must say the PON curry was the best I’ve ever made, it was absolutely delicious. I can’t share the recipe as it’s not available online just via the PON Budget book.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪6 -
Eek to Mr SA.
