Morning everyone! Working today, boo
Just a couple of interviews, but I think it will take most of the day til school run later.
I have done my first weigh in for SW and I lost 6lb! I'm so pleased, but I think it's probably been influenced by the fact I've felt unwell for the whole week and haven't much felt like eating. I've had far too many syns but I'm not stressing about those, I'm trying to make this something that is sustainable long term, and at least they've been used on food, rather than chocolate! It's things like using full fat yoghurt rather than fat free.
Cough's still here, I wish it would go! I had a better night Tuesday night, then an awful one Wednesday and I felt really ill yesterday. Last night was a bit better so at least I got some sleep. I'm missing the fact that I can't just sit in the sun and snooze today to catch up on some sleep, but maybe over the weekend. Little jwil has a birthday party to go to, and I'll pop in town to do a couple of things, but other than that I just plan on chilling and resting to hopefully shift this.
I received £30 cashback this week, but for once, rather than putting it to the mortgage I'm going to put it towards renewing my passport. The kids would like to go on Eurostar, so they will need passports, and DH and mine have expired. If we do one every month or two, it will soften the financial blow, and then maybe next year we can do the trip.
DH is talking about selling our van. I have been saying it for a long time. We've owned it since 2006 and had some lovely times with it, but we haven't really used it much for years, and haven't camped with it since little jwil was a baby. It's being used as a storage shed more than anything, and just rotting away. We haven't got the money to restore it properly, so I think it's time to let it go. We'll see how that goes.
Have a good day everyone!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee4 -
@jwil get well soon. Everyone is different but what worked for me to lose weight, enabling me to reverse type 2 diabetes, was a low carb diet. The consultant told me that fat isn't the villain but it's been cast as that and it's driving high-carb diets which in turn is leading to an explosion of diabetes. Fat doesn't necessarily make you put on weight. Food (ha ha!) for thought. Love Humdinger xx3

I am reducing carbs significantly, but not going proper low carb. I agree about fat and sugars though, hence ignoring the 'choose fat free' guidance. If I can lose some weight and then get my bloods done again, if it's not showing an improvement, then I will reduce carbs further, but I'd prefer not to have too much rigidity about what I can eat otherwise I won't stick to it at this stage! Interviews done, I didn't finish til 2pm which was a bit annoying. Popped to Tesco to get my passport photos done and to grab something to eat before school. I got the photos sorted, I look like a serial killer

So I'll do that application over the weekend.
Very pleased that it seems we are eligible for the nationwide freebie, only by the skin of our teeth though! I opened a savings account in January and it only got to £100 in March so just scraped in.
Got to take the kids swimming now. Have a good evening."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
Great news on the Nationwide bonus.
Sadly I don't qualify

I think my cough finally might be turning the corner, hurrah. My chest feels looser today, and I even managed to sleep part of the night not raised up last night.
We were out and about this morning, and this afternoon I've been sitting in the garden. It's been a beautiful day, let's hope we have many more. Lovely and sunny but not too hot 🌞🌞🌞
We went to a May Fayre this morning and on one of the car boot stalls, there was someone selling lampshades that matched little miss's new curtains in her room. We got one for the pendant in her room which didn't have anything on it. Great find and good bargain!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3
