Good news on the bloods. Regarding the HBA1C, at least you know where you are and can put a plan in place to address it. I have a friend in the same position as you so know it’s not easy.

Sorry about the blood test results. A loss of even 5-10% of weight can give major benefits. I appreciate that if like me you have a lot of wright to go it's a big target but breaking it down like that helped me get past my all or nothing approach.
Yes, it's overwhelming with loads to lose.  I have been losing (very) slowly, but clearly need to ramp it up.

Thank you :).  Yes, at least I know now rather than waiting for another few months when my next test would have been due anyway.

Thank you.  I'm going to wait and see what they say before I make any decisions, and see if they do offer anything like that.

  • Glad that you have a good GP and they are quick on the mark. Shame to hear about the diabetes blood result. From what I've seen locally GPs try and give really good support on managing any meds, sugar levels etc and hopefully they can tell you more if you have to repeat the test in two weeks.

I've been thinking about what's been going wrong, as at my last test it went down slightly.  There are some obvious culprits!

    - I dropped off with the walking a few weeks before the holidays due to busyness/anxiety, so that is a big one.  Since the summer holidays, I haven't even had that little bit I do even if I drive on the school run, so that's even worse on the working days.

So next week, I will go back to walking on the school run.

     - I've let a little 'fat' coke habit creep in - just one can at lunchtime, but not needed.
    That will stop.

    - Chocolate.  As ever this is my downfall, and when I'm anxious/stressed it affects my digestion making me lack the energy to cook properly and also making it uncomfortable to eat so I result to chocolate as I can't be bothered.

I'd already decided to tackle this one, so haven't got any coming in my shopping, and instead other snacks like fruit and nuts.   Need to be consistent in this and consider what else I can do about my anxiety (I don't really want to go on meds).

     - Breakfast. I usually have fruit and yoghurt, but have recently been having flavoured yoghurts instead of greek, so higher in sugar.  I will go back to greek, but also consider other breakfasts, e.g. oats or eggs instead.

    - White bread.  I've been eating a lot of this recently and it doesn't do me any good, so need to reduce bread overall and switch to wholegrain if I do have it.

Depending on what the docs offer in a couple of weeks time, I might go back to SW.  I've come to the conclusion that I need to go somewhere regularly to keep me accountable, plus it would help me keep track as opposed to using my rubbish scales or spending on more that might not be any better.   I don't know if my gp do the vouchers but will ask.

Thank you.  That's good to know.  The GP said once the test was repeated they'd give me another appointment.

Good that you are able to identify things you can change even if its not always easy to keep up.  Good luck with it x
