Thank you. I agree it probably is. He says it's not.doingitanyway said:Good news re the mole on your arm.
Probably SATs stress for the little one
I'm not worried at all about them, I know he's doing enough to pass easily. I'm just trying to encourage him to make an effort rather than coast. It's only 10 minutes, so I'm not asking a lot. He's definitely looking forward to the breakfastCRANKY40 said:Don't worry too much about SATs. High school will test him when he gets there and band him accordingly. SATs are more a reflection on the performance of the school. Mine wrote "7" for most of the answers on his maths test and we still didn't get any of the help that he needed. We're still working on that with the help of his university disability team. Little jwil pobably has the right attitude as being too stressed could affect his performance.
I just remembered that the thing that mine enjoyed most about SATS was that school put on a free breakfast for SATs days 🤣🤣🤣
It definitely is the case here with little jwil and little miss, though they are both doing fine in both. Little jwil will definitely coast through life (I think he takes after meWinterWarrior said:It’s often the case that boys are maths naturals and girls are English naturals isn’t it. I wasn’t a natural at anything 🤭 which just shows that you don’t really need skills, just bloody mindedness and a refusal to give in. My sister was a real brain box (still is), yet earning wasn’t high on her agenda and she was very happy coasting at a supermarket until she married. I don’t think schooling really seals anyone’s fate, it just helps a bit. Little jwils not bothered attitude might help him coast happily through life ✨) But, equally, some times we have to do things we don't want to do (make that all the time in work
). I'd understand if I was making him study above everything else, but 10 minutes is hardly a hardship.
My opinion is that education gives choices. They may not choose to do anything with it, but at least they have the option, and that is very valuable. I don't put loads of pressure on them to be wonderful at stuff, but I want them to make an effort when it's needed, and I'm just asking them to do what the school are asking them to do. I get the impression that I'm a lot more laid back than a lot of people (and often feel guilty about that!).

Although I still haven't managed the long survey, I did finally get some approved yesterday so cashed out. I'm amazed the long survey is still there! I don't think I'll have a chance today, so maybe tomorrow.
Better crack on. Have a good day everyone"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
You are doing a good thing pushing the 10 minutes, it’s encouragement without being too harsh 😁 I do wish I had been pushed, but I was left to my own devices. I’m not sure why now, maybe I was such a horror it was easier to leave me to it? 😅 Maybe they thought they had one brainy child and didn’t need another…I might ask my mum 😁

Re bed hair ads...are we all fondly remembering the one where a gorilla (or possibly an orangutan) used a man as a mop in his sleep; his hair was the business end of the mop? You are doing brilliantly on the PADs! Love Humdinger xx2

I swear I'm getting more grumpy and intolerant. Here are all the things that have annoyed me today:
- People being (consistently) late for meetings
- People spending the first twenty minutes of meetings generally chatting about non-work stuff
- Meetings overrunning (particularly when it's due to the above)
- Back to back meetings
- People interrupting me and talking over me
- People who waffle on for 10 minutes instead of getting to the point
- People who spend the best part of an hour explaining why they haven't achieved something - an hour that could have been spent doing said thing, especially when I am not their manager so it's not my problem!
- People who tell other people to talk to me about something I am only on the peripheral of, instead of talking to the person who is leading on the project
I've probably done some of these things at some point, so I'm also a complete hypocrite
However, I feel better for getting it off my chest and can now start my weekends. Feel free to add any annoyances to my list"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee5 -
As it was recycling day today I defrosted the standalone freezer. Everything fit in the fridge freezer that I did the other day, so I could just switch the freezer off for now, until I do a big shop again to fill it up. There were a few bits that I think had been partially defrosted at some point, so I decided to get rid to be on the safe side. The food went in the food bin, and the packaging in the recycling, so it didn't need to hang around.
I've not eaten particularly well, as I've been decluttering some of the things from the freezer to use them up. So I had some home bake bread rolls for lunch, and also cooked up a batch of cookies. I realised I had several open bags of peas for some reason, so used up one with dinner. I also decluttered a Feast ice creamI'm going to make a concerted effort to use up some of the odds and ends so that I can do that big shop and fill them up again. I then need to be more organised and make sure we're turning things around frequently so it's not the same stuff in there for ages.
I've also caught up with the washing and done the towels, so I don't have to do that tomorrow."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
I ordered the shampoo bar, body butter bar and face wash bar from the weekly email, so it will be good to try those when they arrive. I've never tried any of the bars before, but have been meaning to for ages. Just paying the postage makes it a good deal!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
