I had a lovely quiet day yesterday, just pottering around and doing little bits. I gave the bathroom a good bleaching including the tiles around the bath, and cleaned the window frame as well in the bathroom and the landing.
Cleaned the dog bed as well, and washed the kids winter coats which I shall probably get rid of now, as they will need new ones in the autumn.
We've got the EPC/Insulation survey next week, so I want to make sure everything is reasonably tidy this weekend. Luckily my efforts last week before we went away mean it's not such a huge job as it normally is.
The kids are in tidying their rooms, and I've got their bedding in the wash. I'll do ours tomorrow.
One more week until the Easter holidays and I've made the decision that we will be doing very little. I always put pressure on myself to see people and do stuff, so I never get to spend the time at home doing things that need to be done. I feel so much better having made that decision, and it means we can just chill and do what we want. We'll go out over the weekends when DH is home and in the week will just do what we fancy. I'm working two days, but will have the rest of the time off, so I'm looking forward to that.
I feel like I've got some of my mojo back at long last, it feels like it's been gone for years. So I want to start improving the house, getting on with the sorting/decluttering, and doing stuff in the garden. There's lots of little jobs I want to do but never get round to as I always feel like I'm trying to catch up on housework or other stuff or feel obliged to be visiting people. So for once, I'm going to prioritise me and what I want to do. The kids will be quite happy as long as we go swimming at some point, which is what they've asked to do, and I'm not going to feel guilty about it, I need a break!

The rug I bought for 'my' space out the back has made such a big difference, it's really refreshing. I'm considering getting another for the front room, as the same carpet is all the way through the downstairs and I hate it.
We've got two tub chairs that are looking quite tatty now, but still perfectly useable and comfortable, so I've ordered some covers to go on them, so we don't need to use blankets. They should arrive today so hopefully they will work!
If they do, I'll look at getting something for our sofas as well. It's little things like that which help lift a room and stop it looking so awful.
I cashed out £25 on a survey site this week, so will pad that when it arrives. All of my PADs are going to savings now, and I'm trying to make a small overpayment to the mortgage each month just to keep that reducing a little faster. I think I need about £17k to clear the mortgage once the fixed term ends (9 years), so the little overpayments will help now, and hopefully I'll have a decent amount of savings behind us by then as well.
I've had a look at the new bills for next year. Council tax is up £26 a month, water up £13 a month, internet etc up £5 a month. Swimming up £2 a month, school stuff around £5 a month. Gas and electric should be down around £17 a month, though I haven't changed that payment yet. I will do though I think. Better in my account than theirs!
We've had some details on little jwil's new school including the price list for the uniform. Ouch! That's going to hurt, so I'll probably try and get it bit by bit over the next couple of months. At least I'll be able to pass on much of his current school uniform for little miss, so won't have to buy a lot for her."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Sounds like an excellent plan for the holidays and glad your mojo has reappeared

Excellent news you've found your mojo. I love the Alice film - and it's reference to 'muchness'. I relate to that and you as I have been working hard to rediscover my 'muchness' and decide where my life will go from here.
An extra rug sounds great - as do the chair covers. I have lots of chair covers in my house and they make such a difference.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
