Sounds like a good idea! My insurance has just renewed (6th Jan), I started looking around the 16th Dec for best deal and managed to secure an OK deal with Aviva but it had increased by over £70 in comparison to last couple of years!BlueJ94 said:Me again,
so I’ve got 3 savings challenges on the go and the one I think I’m going to allocate to paying my car insurance in one go as it’s around £300ish, so that’s the one savings plan. The other is for Christmas and the third is for Rainy days or emergency funds
I did the Christmas savings challenge last year and made sure that by payday at the end of November I was at my self-set target of £365. It worked well and meant I could encompass some presents for friends / family (we also normally do a secret Santa at work) , pay for a few extra Christmas dinner evenings out and main food shop a week before Xmas so a very sensible plan I reckon!
What do you have in your EF so far? What are you aiming for?If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.
Secured/Unsecured loans x 1
Credit Cards x 8 (total limit £55,050)
Creation FS Retail Account x 1
Creation Credit Sale 0% x 1 = £112.50pm x 20 mths
0% Overdraft x 1 (£0 / £250)
Mortgage Outstanding - £137,707.00 (Payment 13/360)
Total Debt = £7,400 (0%APR) @ £100pm - Stoozing2 -
Oh I agree!MrFrugalFever said:I see places being sold with tenants in-situ more and more now! All you can hope for is that the buyer is a cash buyer and is ‘fair’ with the rent (this can be challenged!!), but be prepared for your rent to increase.
You will need a specialist mortgage broker who deals with bad credit applications should you wish to apply and generally a minimum of 10% deposit due to higher risk.
I’ve always said as one door closes another opens and things happen for a reason - as said above by badmemory, it’ll likely give you the kick you need 😁👊I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe boards and spending & discounts boards. Great idea to use the savings challenge to pay upfront for car insurance - that would be a good saving, and then of course you can also budget to put your usual monthly amount that you have been paying aside to fund the following years, can't you.
As for the house, how long do you have left on your current tenancy? We were incredibly lucky when we were renting - our LL was lovely and literally waited until we wanted to move out before he sold the place, but it's getting harder and harder for even the most kind hearted ones to do this mow I suspect. I wouldn't want to be on either side of that equation these days.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Evening all!Looking after my nephew for a few hours this evening!Exciting news, I questioned if the landlord would ever think to sell the house to myself and OH and they’ve just given me a property market value of 80k which is completely not what expected. We expected much much more! So myself and OH are going to sit down and have a serious think about it over the weekend and see what and if we could get a mortgage!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe boards and spending & discounts boards. A property is worth less with tenants in residence so that may account for the difference as he must be asking that you remain. So good luck if you are sure it is a property you would like to own, not just that you are used to living in, if you see what I mean.

Yes maybe, I fully understand. Ideally we want a home with a better garden and a drive but for the money it’s worth us buying this place and waiting for the house market to drop a little.badmemory said:A property is worth less with tenants in residence so that may account for the difference as he must be asking that you remain.
