oh my goodness that does sound stressful. So pleased that you had the mass on the brain ruled out as that must have been scary whilst waiting. Sending positive vibes for the 'reset' it sounds a really healthy way to look at it.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
I hope you find out what’s wrong soon and your DD gets some treatment. A very worrying time for you but good a mass on her brain has been ruled out. I also hope the uni issue is resolved.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Uni is tough - my son stayed home (we're lucky with how close we live) but even so he said to me yesterday that if he'd been in halls he would have given up by now. One of his friends (from here but chose to live in halls) has given up already and one of his other friends who went slightly further away but still easy to get back here from has also given up and is home. I think that your take on this by giving her your support is excellent. I have found it hard to see my son struggling so much while still trying not to let him see how much it's upsetting me. I hope next year goes better for your daughter, I really, really do.6

Thanks to all you wonderful people!! The weekend has improved massively as it's gone on: a Beatles tribute band last night with dancing in the aisles; lots of walking in brilliant sunshine; and a fab night's sleep have left me feeling balanced and happy. Lots of students take gap years, repeat years etc...it's nothing more than that. Paperwork is looming but most important of all, I hope we'll get a diagnosis Tuesday week. Love Humdinger xx6
-
That sounds nicely positive, @Humdinger1. It is just a gap year. That is what it is, unless anything changes & if it does, then you will deal with it. Atm your daughter - an adult - is choosing to defer for a year & plenty of students do that, especially when they have been poorly. The most important thing now is a diagnosis because as with all these things, knowledge is power. Fingers crossed for Tuesday week. It does sound as though the scariest possibility has been ruled out, so all you can do now is continue to support your daughter (& easy for me to say as a non-parent, I know, but remember that part of the resumption of that teenage role when living back at home is that parents often go straight back into their old role too & facilitate this) & work through all the options & rehabilitation when you know exactly what the problem is. If it does turn out to be some kind of inner ear problem with the added anxiety this causes, it will resolve in time - I am proof of that - but your daughter's confidence will need building up as the scary symptoms will have shaken her.
