Sending every good wish to you and yours.Hopefully the gap year will get the diagnosis sorted and give DD the chance to rebuild her confidence. So glad you've had a great weekend, it sounds lovely. (((hugs))) XI Believe.....

Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy5 -
Thanks everyone for all your kindness and suggestions. Feeling much better after a fab weekend. DD has been talking about how to build her physical and mental resilience for her return in Sep. She knows it's about balancing social time (with people she likes, not just the ones who happen to be there) and time alone. Yoga and exercise are also very positive ideas she's come up with. She's applying for jobs to help fund the time off though her father and i will be helping. I'm thrilled that she's so self aware as think this is healthy and is a good foundation. Love Humdinger xx

Glad you're feeling better. Something my DD has done because she's on a course with only 15 students (a few dropped out early on) and also lives in halls with them, is to make it that she befriends and meets people outside of this by going into the next suburb on public transport and socialising there or having a drink in a local pub that isn't a popular haunt for her college mates. I have also read that connecting to nature helps with MH, so things like a walk in a park/woods/by the sea or visiting a waterfall could also be beneficial. Obviously time constraints, finances and geographic location come into whether any are feasible.5

Nice to hear you sounding so positive. Yoga and Exercise are a great idea from DD, how lovely she came up with those two on her own. Yoga helped me a lot during my very early 20s with the stress of leaving univ and starting work so I think that one was a particularly good suggestion..Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I exercised loads thru uni - really helped balance out the drinking ... and had some fabulous student travel trips in the summer which helped. Maybe she could look to work abroad at BUNAC or some such before Sep?
Drama school is hard as the teachers often have favourites and it can get v clicquey so having other friend groups is importantDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
