Giving Up/Cutting Down Alcohol Thread part 18

That’s really great going sunshine_raincloud, well done. I am about a week away from making it to the 4-month AF mark. The last few years since 2018/2019 I’ve done 6 months AF over the summer. You’re right to recommend a longer stint without drinking and, like you, I also strangely find I don’t really miss it, in fact I’d say I actively like not drinking.I may have this wrong but I’m sure I’ve seen someone post on here before that the physical craving for alcohol disappears after only a few weeks, but it’s the psychological dependency that is much more persistent.Anyway I’m very much enjoying an alcohol free summer so far and I’m up to 6/31 including today please cathybird, thank you very much.7

Thank you and congratulations on approaching the 4 month mark! I think you're right about the psychological dependence being more persistent, with time and patience I have found it easier to stop associating situations with having an alcoholic drink though. Creating new routines helps!Season_of_Mist said:That’s really great going sunshine_raincloud, well done. I am about a week away from making it to the 4-month AF mark. Morning everyone, it is great to see people checking in after some time away.I fear I will struggle to make even my modest target this month, but never mind - every day AF is valuable, right? 2/9 please @cathybird3

4/20 for me today please.
With regard to 14.5%, I have long suspected that a number of wines actually have a higher alcohol content, but it's labelled as 14.5% so that it isn't classed as a "fortified wine" which carries a higher tax. I haven't got any proof, though...What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?2 -
Rather than spacing them out, you could try making a big thing of it and getting all of your AFDs out of the way in the first half of the month. That would mean the second half of the month would be nice and relaxed and you could get in a few extra, if you wanted. Or you could split the month and your target up into threes, so three AFDs in the first 10 days of the month, three in the second 10 days, and so on. That would put you completely on track where you are now, as long as you got in AFD 3 by the 10th. But whatever works - as maman says, plenty of month left xxAllNightDiner said:Morning everyone, it is great to see people checking in after some time away.I fear I will struggle to make even my modest target this month, but never mind - every day AF is valuable, right? 2/9 please @cathybird5
