Still plodding through bits on my list, yesterday I bought the final bots for my holiday. This morning I have booked the car in for its service & MOT, its the day after I get back, hopefully it will pass without too much bother.
Today I might start some packingMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

My birthday yesterday - had some lovely gifts and a relaxed day. I went and had my nails done (fingers and toes) ready for holiday, and also had my eye test done. I have to have a test each year as my Dad and nan both had glaucoma. I get the eye test for free, last year I got two pairs of glasses (£420!!). Anyway, the distance part of my eyes are still the same but the prescription for reading has gone up by 0.5 (?!). Doesn't mean much to me, I asked if I could try contact lenses. She explained a bit and said they will cost £79 a month, how does that sound? I said that sounds expensive
She then said I could have other ones that were £48 a month. I said that sounds better and I would try them and see how I got on with them (they're doing a free trial), She then asked me to choose some frames - I asked why I need frames if I'm having contact lenses? She explained I need them for when I'm not wearing the lenses. Fair enough, but hen she went on to say the lenses I need for glasses start at £290, then I can add on extras like tinting, anti scratch etc etc ... then add on the frames ... anyway, I said I would make do with the glasses I've got for when I'm not wearing the lenses. How on earth do people manage to pay for glasses every year?! It's bonkers!! Hmm, anyway, I didn't end up spending anything yesterday as I get the eye test for free, I've got to go back after my holiday to collect the lenses and we'll see how it goes from there.
Today I really must get on with packing, not sure why I've not done any yet ... a few more bits have been ticked off my list, and I need to go food shopping with ds for while I'm away.Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Just back from a trip to Sainsburys with ds - normally he barely eats anything at home, he eats at work or when he's out, but I think he was panicking as I wouldn't be here ... anyway, £80 later and the fridge is full of burgers, salad, pizza etc. Let's see how much of it he actually remembers to cook. He was responsible for putting it all away when we got back and when I checked the fridge he has put it all in order of use by datesMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

That's extortionate costs for glasses. Are you going to a private opticians rather than one that takes nhs?
