Met up with a friend who has moved to the area today, haven't seen her for 18 years so had lots to catch up on
Came home to an email from DFS letting me know that next month is my final payment on my sofa. This is the only credit or debt that I have other than my mortgage, so will be nice to know it's gone.
Basically I used to pay £100 into my household fund each month, when I got the sofa it was £25 a month for 4 years, so I reduced the household fund to £75 a month and used the other £25 for the sofa. After the last payment I will increase the household pot back up to £100 a month. I did think that this pot would soon grow but actually it rarely gets above around £400, there is always something that needs doing - the dishwasher needed replacing, new bedding, decorating stuff etc. Currently it has £480 in it, I am contemplating getting a skip at Easter and gutting the garage once and for all. There is so much stuff in there that came here when I moved and as I don't like going in the loft everything gets stored in the garage instead. I have an old tumble dryer in there that doesn't work (the scrap metal man will take that for free though so won't waste skip space on that), an old freezer that doesn't work (probably can't go in a skip?), old wooden garden chairs that are rotten, all sorts of stuff that just needs to go. I could do lots of trips to the tip but I have a Mini and can't fit a huge amount in it so lots would end up staying here. Or I could look into a man and a van which will probably be cheaper. Stuff to think about over the next month or so.Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

I would have thought the scrap man would take the freezer as well as the tumble dryer. Our old freezer got taken by the scrap man when we left it out the front for the Council to take! Of course the council wouldn't refund the money we'd paid for collection even though they didn't actually need to collect it!1

Thank you, I will look into it, I thought you had to pay now to get rid of fridges or freezers due to the gas cylinders in them?Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Yesterday I had to go into work for a few hours so didn't get much else done, today I have made the bed, pottered about and put some washing on, had a coffee and generally the house is looking pretty clean and tidy. I am going out for lunch with Mum in a bit but have nothing much else planned other than that,Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Lunch was lovely, we went to a garden centre and pottered about there then went in the cafe. Ds has gone to football today (coach left at 4am), so I won't see him until tomorrow. Today I had a lie-in, then popped to Sainsburys for some bits and am looking forward to a lazy football afternoon. I need to start thinking about getting ready for work soon but not just yetMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

While decluttering one of my cupboards I came across a teapot. It had belonged to my great Aunt and was the item I chose to keep of hers. I don't think I have used it since she passed (approx. 20 years ago). Anyway, I decided to give it a clean and make use of it. Doesn't tea taste so much better from a pot rather than a bag chucked in a cup?!Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Last day before I'm back to work and I'm taking it pretty easy. I've got some veg that needs using up so will chuck it in the slow cooker and make a curry which will do for work lunches this week. Wednesday - Friday will be late nights for me, we have an event at school and I need to stay late so won't be home until around 8.10 - 9.00 each night so need to make sure I have proper meals to take with me.
I've got someone coming round tomorrow or Tuesday to give me a quote for re-rendering and painting the outside of the house. I don't think I'll be having it done any time soon but want a rough guide price so I know what I need to save for, When I moved in some bits of it were peeling away and I've been here 7 years nearly now so it is very much overdue.
Today was supposed to be a washout but it is currently a blue sky so am tempted to Vax the lounge carpet as it's absolutely filthy. Hmm, back soonMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
