Fantastic result on the summer holiday fund, well done 🙂1

This morning I have been and had the checks done on the car, all was fine just needed some air in the tyres. Then I popped into Home Bargains and got a few bits, then the Post Office to send the parcels. 6 have gone, the last one, which is the biggest, is to a trader locally so I am going to meet up with her this week rather than post.
Downstairs is all tidy, just needs a quick hoover, today might be the day I start tackling my wardrobe. This is a job I've been dreading, I have clothes in about 4 different sizes, I have too many clothes, and I have inefficient storage. So all in all it will be a big jobMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

So yesterday I went and got the car checked, all fine. In the afternoon I went to the post office and had a completely flat tyre
Seems a coincidence to me - waiting to hear from the tyre place if it is a puncture or just a flat but not happy.
I also bought some boots for the winter yesterday, brand new on Vinted, sheepskin lined brown leather boots for £23! Fingers crossed they fit okay when they get here.
My next door neighbours are moving next month, I'm gutted as they have been brilliant neighbours - friendly, chatty, helpful ... anyway, the plus side is I have decided to repaint my garden fences and I don't need to worry about drips etc going through to their side as it won't affect them now. I'm not sure how long it will be before I get new neighbours - it's rented and the neighbours were saying the landlord insists on 6 months rent as a deposit! It's currently £1200 a month but he hasn't put the price up since pre-covid so could well go even higher, who has a deposit of £7200!?! Anyway, currently my fences are dark brown but I am thinking of going for a stone / cream colour, maybe not that light but lighter than they currently are. I want to get it done soon before the turf goes down.Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

The tyre place have called - the back one is a full puncture and needs replacing, the others are between 2-3 tyre tread so will need replacing imminently, so £300 for a full set of new tyres ... so much for the checks yesterday that said everything was fine ...Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Aagh ... they've just called back, they're done the tracking and I need 3 alignments adjusting, normally £35 each but will do all 3 for £84 ... this is turning into an expensive morningMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Car is done and home, bed has been stripped, remade and is in the washing machine, drive has been swept just in case there was anything on it that caused the puncture. Dishwasher is on, sun is shining, the day is mine!Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

I'm glad I'm not one for big plans, just after I posted my Mum called me to say she had a problem with fruitflies in her kitchen and could I go round. I got there and she had cleaned as best she could but her eyesight isn't good and quite frankly it was still dirty. Gloves on, bin bag ready .... I binned so much stuff, she was having kittens at the waste, but when I tell you it included the following from her fridge: some prawns from June, some pate from June, some cheddar with blue mould on it ("I can cut those bits off"...) and some gammon steaks that were best before December 2022. I ignored the lecture about being wasteful and my generation being ridiculous with sell by dates ... she is 80 and not in the best health, not short of money and does not need to play russian roulette with illness. Then I scrubbed every cupboard / door / floor etc. It seems the flies were there as she had a half used tin of baked beans that had got lost down the side of her microwave that she couldn't see. Anyway, all done and she's happy.
Then I came back, did another trip to the tip and got rid of another 3 bin bags of accumulated rubbish - the old cushions from my garden chair, they were 20 years old and the seams had gone and bits of foam keep falling out every time you sit down so they've gone. I kept the frames and will buy new cushions, maybe for next summer now. Then I did a trip to B&Q and got the fence paint and have done 5 panels, I'm very happy with the colour, they were a dark brown and are now a mutes grey / putty colour, much better! I have also covered the gravel in the front garden with weedkiller and left it to do its thing. Another batch o cards has arrives with its new owner and payment has been received. You’ve definitely been busy! Your mum made me laugh mine was just the same. Might be worth keeping a look out for chair cushions when they start selling summer stuff off, you might be able to grab a bargain.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1
