Morning all,
Good sleep had here which is nice. It’s dry (so far), so I will get a load of washing on the line for a bit. I made some salted butter yesterday using a pot of reduced cream I had in - delicious and so easy. I’ll definitely be doing that going forwards. We also made brownies.Todays plans include fixing the latch on DDs door and a Sunday dinner leftover style with all of the meat that I had frozen. I’ll get the Yorkshire puddings on soon and we’ll have two types of spuds. Not going anywhere again so safe to declare this NSD 6/31. Made £43 on fleabay so far too. Take care all xx11 -
Well done on the butter making ASB, very impressive.
DHs month end accounts are done, we have enough money from the business to go in the joint account to cover his share of the bills so that's a relief, this time of year is always a bit tricky even without DH still being a bit poorly. The thought of needing to buy heating oil in the next couple of months is niggling though.
So today we are going to drive out to the coast to visit a nature reserve, something we havent done for a long time. We will park further down the coast and walk the 7.5 mile circuit so we dont have to pay to get in (all legit because the public footpath goes through the reserve). We will also take drinks and food so there will just be the diesel cost to get there. The sun is shining at the moment but rain is forecast later.
Have a good Sunday all x

Morning all. Been up and about for about an hour, OH kindly brought me up tea and toast in bed. I ended up picking up an incredibly rare over time shift yesterday (as an AHP we don't get them very often - but our hospital is in dire need of beds, as all of them are, so more hands on deck to discharge people was needed). I only did half the day but it fully knackered me and I was in bed by 8:30pm
We've hopefully got a carpet cleaner arriving today - I've wanted one for ages and OH finally caved on it. So when that arrives I expect the carpets will be cleaned within an inch of their lives
Other than that I'm just going to do a half hour/45 minute run around the house doing what I can when OH gets back from his run. Whilst he's out I'm going to play with my pretty stationery I got for Christmas and try and sort out our baby shower invites.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January10 -
Morning all.
Small win this morning: I actually managed to get my Nora Batty's on by myself
WMx1 done - it will have to go in the TD as I still can't reach up to hang out.
Wins yesterday: friend J helped me take down the remaining indoor decorations and pack them away. I have sorted a box of tinsel and other bits that I haven't used for a couple of years, to be donated in October (noted in my diary) DH took down the one set of lights in the front garden for which a stepladder was not needed. I walked about 800 yards with Rosie and then took down the set of lights in the back garden (only looped over the trellises and a couple of bushes). Now that they've dried off, I must remember to put both sets back in their boxes.
Rosie is currently out with the dog walker, so I shall only have to take her for a short walk this afternoon, and if it decides to rain we shall stay in. It's just spitting atm.
Nothing exciting planned for the next few days: I have to go to the GP nurse tomorrow for a fresh dressing - hoping it will not require a trip to the horse piddle - and the water company is coming to flush out all their supply pipes in this area over the course of the week, so I must remember to fill up some bottles beforehand in case the stuff coming out of our taps turns yucky brown.
Hope everyone has a restful day and a good week. See you on the new thread xxx12 -
Morning all.
ASB - please explain how to make the butter. I'd love to give it a go.
YSL - enjoy your day out.
Iona - your post made me laugh. I used to wonder why m6 Nan sat down to put her stockings on. Now I know.
I have been up since seven and have done what I intended which is dailies, hoovered, ironing, walked dog, prepped tea for when DGD2 arrives for her sleepover. Which should be fun, not, as she has chicken pox.
So this afternoon I'm just going to chill out.
See you all on the new thread.Spend less now, work less later.12 -

@Jazee - pour double cream into an electric mixer (I use a food processor as that’s all we have). Or into a bowl and use an electric hand whisk.
Mix until it separates - drain the buttermilk off into a separate bowl to use for pancakes. The solid that remains is butter 🙂 stir through sea salt, garlic, rosemary, as you wish. Pack into an empty tub to shape. Enjoy. If I can do it anyone can xx13 -
