Hi all, I have been mia for a few weeks as I went off to Cornwall for a little break. I drove back on Friday and have been catching up with stuff at home as well as on here since
@PipneyJane I think the ulcer is definitely due to the footy,I have had a few years when I must have been close to getting an ulcer
. Seriously though I have had 2 endoscopies and other "investigations" but I didn't have a sedative although it was offered and I was fine, it just felt a bit weird having something moving around in my stomach but then I am a nosy so and so and like to know everything that is going on. Good luck with it and I hope you are soon fighting fit, hugs
On the subject of t shirts I have bought 6 this year so far and calculated 5 coupons for them so I will happily go with 4 and reclaim 6 coupons. They really are a staple in my wardrobe and will probably get another couple before the year is over as most of mine are getting a bit shabby as I hadn't bought any since before covid. So new coupon total is 54.5 + 6 = 60.5.
When I was on holiday one of the people we were with was a German lady who said clothes are much more expensive in Germany. She spent rather a lot of money on c!others for herself and her children including £50 for a pair of flip flops! I nearly fainted when I saw that price tagShe did also find an extremely good waterproof jacket being sold by the RNLI which had been ordered for their lifeguards but had been delivered without the signage so they were selling them for £15. Unfortunately there were none big enough for me or I would have snapped it up, especially as they are red
Well I had better crack on, the sun is out and the washing machine is calling
Take care everyone

Coupon spends to report and it seems to be the theme now, and thankfully saves me darting back to page 1 to try and work it out.
3 tshirts for basic summer staples.
A whopping 12 points.
I do have a rather huge pile of stuff to sell off on the East Bay market when that comes through the villageWealth is not measured by currency7 -
Hello everyone. I haven’t had much to report since I decided I couldn’t do the challenges after losing a lot of weight and needing to replace my wardrobe. But I’m still trying to be mindful. Although I’ve had to buy quite a lot I’ve also been working on getting the fit right on a basic bodice so that I can finally put together a proper coordinated wardrobe which will last me a long time. This has not been straightforward. I worked out I need to do the following
forward neck adjustment AND forward shoulder adjustment
narrow shoulder adjustment
high round back adjustment
narrow chest adjustment
full bust adjustment (yes I do have both)
sway back adjustment
and -errr- circumference adjustments (despite losing all that weight, sigh!)
But I think I am there. Stash busting here I come
we have just come back from holiday where I got compliments on my basic shift dress so I’m pleased with that
But the new tee shirts I bought for the holiday have all got yellow stains round the neck and sleeve hems from the sun cream. I remember there was some discussion about this last year and that using chlorine bleach made the stains go pink. But I can’t remember what the solution was and I can’t find the discussion .Does anyone remember what the answer was?It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!7 -
@maryb, well done on the weight loss and dressmaking skills, they are both inspirational!
It was my linen top that went pink! I did eventually get all the pink out and it looks as good as new again. I will try to find the full details for you, but not all sun cream reacts this way and I remember the solution involved hanging the top in the sunshine.
ETA: I found it! Thanks again to everyone who sympathised and advised, and especially to @skogar who found the cure.
It's well worth reading this by @Liverpool_Anne to avoid the same happening again.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Thank you!!!!
No wonder I couldn't find the discussion, it was later in the year than I thought.
I don't have the pink problem because I remembered not to use bleach. I've got plenty of cheap vodka as I use it as antifreeze in my ice cream maker so I'll have a go with thatIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!5 -

(My mum loves damson gin but has no local damsons so every few years I buy a bottle of cheap gin and make her a few jars of damson gin, and then keep the leftover couple of inches to use for all kinds of useful cleaning purposes! You do get funny looks though, don't you, when you have a bottle handy for making ice-cream or cleaning mirrors...)

LOL when we had aupairs from Eastern Europe they would often bring bottles of local hooch usually in strange bottles. We never drank very much of it but it made great antifreeze. With vodka you have to add new stuff each time, if you leave it in the ice cream maker the alcohol evaporates and doesn't stop the pail sticking to the sides. With that stuff it NEVER frozeIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!7

@maryb congratulations on the weight loss! I am impressed by your dressmaking skills.
While I have no coupon spends to declare, I did buy a black, long-sleeved, M&S t-shirt in a charity shop earlier this month. Also, I'm busy talking myself out of purchasing 4-5 skeins of a limited edition 70% Falkland Island Marino : 30% Alpaca 4-ply yarn. The online shop that's selling it is shutting down. It's a beautiful, natural shade of grey. I can afford it - there's over £100 in my "knitting" account - but I've sworn off buying yarn this year. I can't ask DH to buy it for me for my birthday in August, using his coupons, because I know he's already got something expensive lined up. Arrggghhhhhh........

@PipneyJane, I had sedation for my endoscopy in the 1990s and whilst it turned out not to be as ghastly as I feared I certainly wouldn't want to have one unsedated...
Now, this here merino-alpaca... if it's a natural grey then the chances are pretty high that it exists somewhere else as well.
Is it really and truly something which you have never ever seen anything like it, or is it really and honestly something you probably could find a pretty similar yarn if you had a project for which you really needed it?2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
