I have got a new xbox. I never got round to opening as we got a 360. I was going to put it on eBay but reading this post got me thinking whether I should mod it first. Would it be worth modding it or leaving it for a buyer to do if they wanted to?

Hmm I reckon it's probably worth modding first

Thanks for the info, so I need a memory card to go into the gamepad aswell? I was hoping I would be able to manage with just the usb pen

No you don't need a memory card but you will need a USB adapter. I didn't use this method as I managed to source a memory card and did it that way but this guide tells you how to do it with a USB stick http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/USB_Storage_To_Xbox_Memory_Card_HOWTO

I'm totally confused about how I get the files from the USB pen to the xbox? I saw a tutoriol on making an xbox controller into a USB device which seemed simple enough, but I just cant figure out were the usb stick fits in to the equasion?

It sound like you're making the wrong thing.

You don't want an x-box gamepad with a USB plug on the end - you want an X-box gamepad PLUG with a USB SOCKET on the end.

That said - as it means mascaraing a gamepad, you might be better off just buying an AR.

You were right, I was looking at the wrong thing :o I decided against it anyway and ordered a cable from ebay which is the right fitting :D

I am so stuck with getting the drivers on to the USB stick  I have changed the digits around but I am not getting action reply in the driver list, just the usb mass storage device one, any idea were I am going wrong? I think the USB formatted okay in the xbox, i got the message about it being erased.

    Thanks

If anyone is still after one of these, i have one modded (via the softmod method) and it's set to use the xbmc as the default dashboard.. no games included and has the standard sized HD in it.. i just need to get rid so i'd let it go at the same price i got it from Game (£19.99) plus courier delivery at £8.50... let me know if anyone wants it

Does anyone know anywhere in East Anglia with these in stock? I'm guessing ringing them up is the best option!
Update - walked into the one in Ipswich, there were 2 or 3 on show, all with £19.99 written on the box.

Cashed in my £10 voucher and got meself a £9.99 Xbox with a controller - picked up PGR, Forza & Burnout 3 as well as a quality RGB Scart lead for £15. Wahey!

Anyone have an idiot proof guide to modding this into XMBC? I would rather not go and get an action replay thingy, but will if I have to - i'm handy with PC's (i.e. i built my own), but know nothing about consoles.

I think it is mentioned in earlier postings but I found the LifeHacker guide the best using an Action Replay from Play.com.

Would anyone be able to put the save I need on a memory card? I dont have an action replay, and would much rather pay someone else postage both ways and a little extra to get it on a memory card.

I dont have a memory card yet, though - how big does it need to be? I have Splinter Cell (no idea which one, yet though.)
