Oh, dashit, Miro. These things cut deeper than the thrill of the chase. Says she who has never left a pot unattended whilst I plead with the Acquiz Committee either in person or via fervent prayer but then I tend to hunt with at least one bearer (I mean beloved offspring) in tow. Not only do those delightful young mutts know their place, they are also learning their patterns & can & do reach me down possible pieces form awkward shelves & tilt so I can view the basestamp like a high end sommelier presenting the label for my inspection. They also lug to order, bless 'em so I rather rarely see a pot I wanted go home with someone else. (Although I will be counting the plates when Middleson moves out He "only wants six settings" just I don't think we have 10 full for him to raid from! Yet.)7

Oh Miro how disappointing, hopefully there is something much nicer in your near future.
Rosa - glad to hear you're having such a nice time in Canada and I'm very envious of that John Roberts top, the hem details really make it.
I had decided to make a foray to the Oxfam and Barnardo's that are quite a walk away yesterday and persevered even though it was wet and chilly when I got up. I was rewarded with a very nice lot of items from both shops. Barnardo's had a SAD lamp marked working £3, a framed watercolour Cumbrian farmhouse £1.50, a Jaeger 100% cotton shirt £4, a Land's End t-shirt £2.50 and a Maine fleece £6.50. Oxfam had a baking sheet rack (or at least that's how I'll be using it) £3.99, a Crew Clothing men's polo which almost matched the fleece £4.99 and a quenelle scoop £1.99 which I bought for its unusual oval shape. All in photos below except the watercolour which I forgot to include in the groups, sorry.

I have baking sheet rack envy.
It even has drainage/airspace through the base. The clothes look a good collection too: some great colours, very fresh (and just what you need in this weather to cheer you up).
I didn't even bother to check if the car boots were on yesterday: it was so wet I wouldn't have enjoyed it. I did get lots of miscellaneous bits last week, though (and am using a reel of stickers that cost me 10p earlier in the summer).
I came across this article on styling this morning and found it quite interesting. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has looked in a changing room mirror, decided against buying something, then put my own stuff back on and decided I wouldn't buy it if I tried it on today! It's probably about time I got things out and had another look at them. I used to use the 'save your wardrobe' app which helps with putting outfits together but perhaps I'm jut not adventurous enough for that...I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Had a trundle around the charity shops in Thirsk today…..came away with a navy satiny pleated midi skirt by Whistles £4.35. Does give me school skirt vibes, (well the navy pleats rather than the satin), but I have just the jacket to go with it. 😀7

Not a charity shop but def MSE.....I need a new bathing suit and so had gone into Taxco Metro a week or so back. Spotted a nice black tank suit at full price (£19.50) and another brightly coloured one on sale for £15. Got to the till and the coloured one was actually reduced again to £10 so I paid £29.50 for both. This was simply so I could take them home to try on. Well got home, tried them and there was the same problem with both. Low cut backs which meant that the straps would slip fairly easily off my sloping shoulders. So both were returned to my smaller local Taxco.
Fast forward a week and I'm in the local shop and thought I'd have a quick look at their tiny clothing section. Lo and behold there was the expensive full price black tank suit now reduced to £4.88. So of course I bought it again. I'm waffling between thinking at that price it's worth it even if it means I only wear it a few times before I find something better or if I should be sensible and hold off buying anything.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @Miró it took me ten years to wear navy again after school! I wonder how many people actually aren't bothered by school uniform vibes?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@Brie, I think there might be a fix for that if you re willing to get out a needle and thread. Get a bit of fabric (personally I envisage neon range or Barbie pink but it could be black or anything really - this is going to be A Feature) and make a tube. You could just stitch wide ribbon if you wanted. Make it quite a bit too long to go from strap to strap at the back. Then thread wide elastic through it. The elastic is going to pull the straps slightly together so the fabric gets very ruched. Sew through all the layers at either end so everything is secure.
Doe that make sense to anyone but me?The end result should be that the straps are drawn towards each other across your back.

And another interesting article I spotted: for those not-so-new-looking charity shop finds: Crotch blowouts and bobbly knits: how to save secondhand clothes from smells, stains and other surprises (msn.com)
Some useful tips. I never thought of freezing jeans!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I still won't wear bottle green after having to wear that for school uniform including knickers (but only wore them on PE days!). Any colour but on other days, LOL!
