Got an oversized Whittards cup for £1 (to charity EBay) and a little wooden bulldog 2” long for DS1 for Christmas. Will be in Kendal tomorrow but doubt we’ll be there before the shops close ☹️ Onwards to Kirkby Lonsdale on Monday then Lancaster on Tuesday. @Coxy11
yes we def need to know who benefits from this!
I am unfortunately no longer fit enough for extensive walking but did some in the past including 50 miles of Hadrian's Wall for OH's 50th - hence knowing it's the hills that matter! We had luggage transport for that so just needed our day packs but when we did trekking in the Alps I would prune down what I was taking to the absolute essentials and then eliminate some of those just to ensure I wasn't carrying too much. This talk of walking has reminded me of my greatest walking achievement - doing the 90 odd mile Dalesway from Leeds to Windermere, youth hostelling all the way. Will never forget climbing the last hill to get the first amazing view of Windermere....then finding that someone had built a stone seat there with a plaque on it saying 'For those who have walked the Dalesway'...have never felt so grateful to be able to sit down!!
@Cherryfudge have you made it to the Bedale car booty yet this year...I see it was on yesterday?!7 -
DSis and I are doing JoGLE (John O’Groats to Lands End) in stages as we both work/have families. This is our latest stage. Can confirm many more than 90 miles have been covered as we are taking footpaths/b roads/bridleways etc. This is for Young Minds, Papyrus and C.A.L.M. In memory of my nephew who died by suicide. Will probably get to Lands End when I’m 60! 🙄Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 18/25 Currently reading It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover11

So....as soon as I moan about the lack of bargains....two pop up!! Both the Otley St Gemma's shop, a pair of dark brown leather Clark's shoes ballet stylee but with a small heel and suede bow, as new and 99p. Also a BNWT White Stuff Fair Isle pure wool sweater, RRP £65, mine for £9.99, (from the 'specials' rail).
Almost bought a white shirt, some pale grey jeans and a navy & white striped midi dress, all priced at 99p each but put them back as trying to be more selective!14 -
Look what I found today! £19.99 in Cancer Research, the pattern I remembered from a set given as a wedding present to my parents. I have the remnants of their set and on closer inspection this set, which is bone china, is up market. The stamp on the bottom says ‘Queen Anne’.

@Cherryfudge, great find. I love bone china and prefer teasets not to be covered in roses!5

Love that fairisle sweater @Miró - what a find!
That teaset is fab @Cherryfudge - gorgeous pattern.
Now back home after the latest leg of our hike. I managed to find a Nobody's Child dress in Kirkby Lonsdale Save the Children - size 10, oranges and lemons pattern. It was £6 - will Ebay it for my charity fundraising. Also got a Brakeburn blouse for me at £7. It's XS but fits....just... DSis talked me into it. Not sure whether to keep or Ebay it.... Not sure I'd get my money back tbh!
