I needed to pop into the library yesterday afternoon and found a parking spot outside St Luke's Hospice. Despite previous reservations, I felt drawn to it. I wanted to review prices and also had a conviction I would find the CD I was looking for (Jesus Christ Superstar) before Easter.
Find it I did - a double album, when checked at the till appeared to have only one CD in it. Temporarily gobsmacked that my psychic gift had failed me in this way (the lady behind the till clearly thought I was a sandwich short), I took it anyway. Wiping it down this morning I still couldn't believe there weren't 2 discs in there - and there WERE. Guess what is blaring at full volume in my kitchen this morning in it glory....an Easter miracleNo man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.11 -

Another person buying children's books here: the St Teresa's Hospice shop in Cockerton was doing 10 books for £1. I only wanted four, so there are plenty left for others. I also got trekking sandals there for £3.
We went on into Darlington where I resisted a cookery book in Oxfam. I have others in the series but realised that didn't mean I wanted this one. Quite a progressive move for me.
We discovered that Charles Trewitt donates surplus to the BHF in the town, so DH got a jacket (£12) and I spent £1 on hand cream. Lastly we went to the Darlo St Teresa's shop and I found a length of velvet ribbon for 50p.
Judith Kerr fans, have you read 'When Hitler stole Pink Rabbit'?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I’m on a charity hike atm carrying everything from Lockerbie to Lancaster. We stayed in Penrith on Thursday - what a CS Mecca!Obviously limited to what I can carry so got a book for 50p, an Origins cleanser 50p and a Clinique take the day off for £1. Got an oversized Whittards cup for £1 (to charity EBay) and a little wooden bulldog 2” long for DS1 for Christmas. Will be in Kendal tomorrow but doubt we’ll be there before the shops close ☹️ Onwards to Kirkby Lonsdale on Monday then Lancaster on Tuesday. Will see what else I can find!DSis has bought trousers, two tops, a book, a pair of earrings and a cosmetics bag! I repeat - we are carrying everything 🤣Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings10

Oh my goodness @Coxy11 - earrings as well?!
But thanks for the tip off, I don't know when I last went to Penrith but it's within day trip distance.
We both seem to have done okay for toiletries today, with your haul and my hand cream. Last year I got Sanctuary Spa bath oil for about a pound at a car boot sale and it's been a lovely treat through the winter.
Enjoy the rest of your trek, and hopefully find some more treasure!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

🤣 @Cherryfudge! I was almost tempted by a vintage Arcuisine lasagne dish and glass lid in original box to EBay for charity but decided against it! It’s in the Sally Army shop if you’re interested!

More chazzer joy for me this week at my favourite Havens. I bought another 4 items (Next tailored trousers in a powder pink - ideal for summer!, M&S Autograph fully lined tweed midi skirt, long cardigan jacket, long black linen summer dress with spaghetti straps) for £10 plus another CD / stereo system compatible with iPod and iPhone for £12. Again the sound quality is wonderful, and I can disco to my heart's content in my snug as well as the kitchen nowNo man is worth crawling on this earth.
