Interesting - I didn’t know that about the rights and the production company. That sure explains it 😒"One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate change policy is environmental policy. DH was rather taken with this large Denby Regatta coffee pot for £5 at the British Heart Foundation C/S in Lichfield. Usually we use a 1940’s Bourne Denby Pot which has the Wartime Concentration Scheme letters on the base, and the price 2/8 in crayon. We have a lot of old Manor Green we use everyday from C/S and e/B.
DD was delighted with two pretty, unused, Souvenir of Wales tea towels from the Church Fair 50p each. (No coupons required.)
Just after the war a young woman received a package from India from an aunt, labelled tea towels, no duty to pay. It was a dress length of silk for her wedding.10 -
That's a beautiful coffee pot. I collect Denby Homestead Brown and have always been on the lookout for their wartime pieces - lucky you!
Great wartime story too - are you going to share it on Fashion on the Ration? I think they will appreciate it!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@Cherryfudge Many thanks for the info re the Bedale car booties. Wonder if this next week-end's will go ahead as snow appears to be on the way?
Now, please don't be harsh cos I bought it in ignorance!
Ahem, deep breath, so, I'm a handbag-oholic with a penchant for classic vintage and there in the chazza was a dark brown boxy bag rather in the shape of our late Queen's favourite Launer bags but with long enough handles to be able to tuck the bag under the arm. The leather appeared to be in an embossed croc pattern and the whole bag was in brilliant condition. Bit pricy at just over £30 but I loved it and felt like a splurge. Got it home and set about examining it minutely. No makers name but the silk lining has the words 'genuine leather' woven into the fabric. Then I spotted the silver metal plate with a crocodile engraved on it and the words 'Crocodile skin'. Eeeeek!! So, over the week-end I went down an interweb rabbit hole of gathering far more info about crocs, alligators and various other reptiles with scaly skin than I really needed to know. The patterns on the individual scales are wondrous when viewed under a strong magnifying glass. Pretty sure it is genuine caiman skin, (kind of cross between a croc and an alligator). Doubt I will ever use it, and probably would not have bought it is I had known what it was but it has been fascinating researching it.

Car boots do tend to disappear when it's wet, so I'm not holding my breath (too much).Miró said:@Cherryfudge Many thanks for the info re the Bedale car booties. Wonder if this next week-end's will go ahead as snow appears to be on the way?
Re the croc skin... Does it help that you are not the immediate reason for its demise and at least you are looking after what remains of it? Also - for what it's worth - crocodile is a meat animal in Australia. I know because I've had some (and yes, it tastes rather like chicken).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. No judgement on my part but I do agree that as you didn't do the actual killing nor bought it new you are not to blame and are simply honouring it's sacrifice.Miró said:

And since you're a bagoholic I'm wondering if I could offload a Laura Ashley and Liz Claiborne in a financially satisfactory way (mostly kidding)....they are currently awaiting the OH to find a boot sale he wants to work.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I agree it's beautiful. Denby tends to be stoneware though, and stoneware is strong. When I bought some of their Homestead Brown (made pre 1986) I contacted Denby and was assured that it's tough enough for a dishwasher. We have some modern Denby in daily use and out of 24 pieces over about five years, we've had chips in two. It's really, really tough. (This from someone who can break other plates just by stacking them).Rosa_Damascena said:

I did break a Denby jug once
I think it fell on a concrete floor.
But normally I wouldn't worry about them being delicate, they are really strongly made. I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
