Good afternoon all. My name’s YoungBlueEyes and I have a problem. On recommendation by lovely neighbour I went food shopping this aft to a new-to-me shopping centre/retail park thing. First place I saw when I got there was a huge clearance cancer research jobber! Spent nearly 2 hours having a good look through every shelf and rail and box and bought a new top and a few more books (2for£1). I was half way home when I realised I didn’t even go into any other shop! I couldn’t be bothered going back so it hit Aldi on the way home.I’m not fit to be let out 🤪"One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate change policy is environmental policy. Instead, climate change policy is about how we redistribute de facto the world's wealth." - Ottmar Edenhofer, IPCC economist, interviewed at COP169

I had a wander around my nearest large village today - came home with a cerise fine wool scarf, a Next dress for work, a khaki dip-hem tunic (ideal wfh outfit with my camo leggings!) and a lovely turquoise cowl necked technical walking top. I also found a couple of recent bn John Grisham hard backs, and a copy of the Persiana recipe book so I can drool over the photos!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

As do I! A simple trip to the library today involved a detour to 2 local chazzers: 3 books for £1 and a giant mug for 50p in the first, and 4 books for £1 and a metal and pink crystal butterfly bookmark for £1 in the second. Olio is encouraging book donations this month, I can't bear to part with a single one!No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -
I think I might go back to my John Grishams, been so long since I’ve read them. You can’t do that when you’ve given them away - stay strong Rosa! I’m considering catching up with the last few Jack Reachers as well. I gave up on them when his brother/son (?) started writing them with him…"One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate change policy is environmental policy. I remembered what this was as I pulled it out of the washing machine this afternoon: a lightweight, open-fronted Clements Ribeiro blazer. Nothing like the monstrosities of this season's geometric look, this is far calmer and suited for a work environment.Rosa_Damascena said:I've had a good week at the chazzers. On Sunday I visited my favourite, bought a bolero suitable for wearing over work dresses instead of a jacket in the summer, a smart cream blouse with a lace trim, a skirt from Nightingales (a brand I have never heard of) BNWT and one other item which I now can't recall all for £10. But best of all I bought what I thought was a Philips slimline CD player to use in the kitchen for £25 where I can sing along without causing a local disturbance. Not only is the sound quality beautiful, but it is so much more than a CD player - a clock, DAB player and the option to stream from digital sources. I have yet to figure out all the functions but am going to have fun trying.

Then I nipped into a local chazzer just before closing during the week, and nabbed 3 books for £1, a pair of embroidered jeans for x£2, 2 scarves for £1 and a blouse for £1. £5 well spent
My new butterfly:
@YoungBlueEyes - I've never read Jack Reacher but like the writer known as Lee Childs. I've seen him interviewed a couple of times, including BBC Hard Talk - they don't make men like him any more!No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.8 -
@Rosa_Damascena - Jack Reacher is Lee Child's character, he's a strong silent brutal type. V good

Love the Jack Reacher books - think I've read them all so far unless there's been a new one out recently!
If you have Prime the series on there is good. Apparently there will be a 2nd series sometime this year - will look out for that.4 -
I don't know about recent releases... I think I'm maybe 3 or 4 behind. I don't have Prime so I can't comment on that, but I've seen the films and they're pure dross. What they hired that snaggle-toothed short-4r5e for I don't know
