So much to read, so little time.4 -
@florianatwobob
What that dress wants is a big Dolly Parton type wig. And 5 inch heels!
@Miró
I particularly like the knives. We use ours a butter knives.
@Rosa_Damascena
I too want to know where those hangers came from!! much nicer and more practical than mine!!! @Rosa_Damascena it is indeed the very same dress! I was a little concerned about the ruching and how that was going to work and couldn’t try it on in the shop. However the lovely lad working yesterday has clearly been around many women as he said to me , ‘remember you can bring it back. You can’t always tell how a dress is going to work until it’s on’.@Brie I sent the picture to two friends with the caption ‘I need an event’ not sure Friday’s catch up at Wagamama is going to be quite the venue for it!✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

I'm away a few days and come back to pages of posts so I'm going to have to answer in batches or not at all.
@goldfinches, that looks like an interesting cookery book! I've some of hers which need to come down from their present high shelf and be used.
@Miró, some great finds as ever! For those lamenting their distance from North Yorkshire, don't be too hopeful: I suspect Miro has magic powers that track down 90% of the amazing finds!
@DigForVictory and @Rosa_Damascena, thank you for your kind words. I can only claim to enjoy all the lovely Denby finds, not to be in need of them, though the butter pat is currently doing service as a paper weight and the older pie dish made a very picturesque blackberry carrier when our over-abundance of berries went to our son.
@Coxy11, you do a very good job of attracting vintage Pyrex! I had no idea they did such a variety of tableware. Ouch to £2.50 to go into a car boot fair, though.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

North Yorkshire isn't the only place for beautiful bargains. We stayed with friends south of Birmingham over the weekend and they have the best car boot sales. This time we went to Hoggs Lane Northfield where I found a Debenhams blouse for £1 and the following for 50p each: Papaya black tee shirt with print, mustard chenille jumper with matching scarf, red print scarf and a FatFace top. Most of these were as new. I'm a very happy bunny! £3.50 for all those.
We also found a little second hand bookshop in a NT property. The selection was excellent, though it wasn't the absolute cheapest. I spent £12 on a mixture of hardbacks and paperbacks that will keep me entertained for a while.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

After something of a CS drought, some useful and some lovely things.Bonmarche denim dress £4. It looks less shapeless and sacklike on. I may replace the shoulder buttons with something funkier. 2 other denim dresses will be released back to the CS
Small melamine Clarice Cliff- esque tray £1
Blue basket for toiletries £2. I’m still trying to use everything up before I buy more.
Sky blue twill throw/small quilt£5
Landsend lavender T-shirt/nightshirt £2.50. Having a knee op soon so need to be decent.
BN pack of 3 small scrunches, grey, white and black £1
BN iPhone case with a string so I can wear round my neck instead of constantly annoying DH by asking him to ring my phone so I can locate it 😂£1
BN still in packaging pack of 4 white BHS pillowcases £5. Much cheaper and probably better quality than the supermarket ones I was planning to get.
Re no alcohol gin, I go low alcohol with Haymans Little gin. It’s v nice6 -
Passing by the 'Brain Tumour Charity' shop today I could not resist calling in and came away with a burgundy Autograph cashmere sweater in excellent condition for £6. Then into the BHF shop where they had another pair of the tartan trousers that I got a few weeks ago. Different tartan and different style - this pair are slightly bootleg stylee and have the zip fastener in the centre back which I find most odd! Is this really a thing? They are brand new, overlocked hems but not stitched in place, and appear to have been tailor made. There is a label inside which states 'Tailoring by Gently' and another large label that stretches across inside by the tum! Apparently this firm makes bespoke shooting outfits and plus fours!
I could not resist buying them at £8 and as I was shoving them in my bag I realised the aforesaid cashmere sweater is a perfect match for one of the colours in the tartan.. I would love to know how they ended up in the chazza? Were they made for some grande 'Lady' of one of the big Yorkshire shooting estates?
