  • Welcome back. PayPal is a good one to clear as they usually charge high interest.

I agree cutting back on the eating out will save you a fortune. You would clear PayPal in one month if you just did one takeaway. Meal planning and batch cooking would help.

Thank you. I don’t think it’ll take long to clear PayPal. Will move onto a bigger debt after that.

Definitely need to start meal planning.

Happy Belated 60th Lou. Hope the PIP transfer went smoothly. I think I did mine about 8 or 9 years ago. It was really stressful!!

    Morning everyone.

Work went okay last night - still feeling a bit chesty, so still coughing quite a bit, but managed to get through. Got a 5-9pm shift tonight though 😩

Finished off my Christmas shopping yesterday finally. Need to get more organised next year and not leave things to the last minute. Just got the wrapping to do now, which I’ll aim to get done before OH wakes up.

  • Good morning @Emzilla, I've just subbed to your diary. I started my own as well, a few months ago.
I'm a fellow early morning person, I start work at 5am most days, although my hours are part-time which is nice. I'm a carer for my disabled son.

I also have a side hustle, where I do ironing for several families a month. All of that money will go towards my debt as well. I have about £10.5 k to pay off currently.

Looking forward to reading your diary!

One more evening at work. One more evening at work. One more evening at work.

Last night wasn’t great. 4 hours on till, 2 of those completely on my own. Not good when you get a queue. I don’t know if I can do another Christmas in retail. It just sucks all the joy out. You’re often working right up to Christmas Day, so you can’t relax and get into festive mode, plus then straight after you have to go through the hell that is New Year Sale.

Anyway, only working 3.30-6.30 tonight and then back on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Everything is all wrapped up and ready to go. Just need to drop a card off to my friend later today.

I used to work in retail and yes I remember Christmas well.

I hope today's shift goes well and you have a lovely break.  Happy Christmas 🎄

  • I work in retail and totally agree, I hope to be fully self-employed next Christmas and take at least a week off over Christmas and New Year.
Being on tills with a queue at this time of year sucks, especially if the customers are grumpy. You have my sympathies Emz.
