You have ended June well that’s loads left and I understand the owing to family thing as I have borrowed from my parents a few times over to years, if he’s strict on when he wants it back I would want to pay it sooner just on principle haha

  • It is the principle of it lol, he knew £10k would be a lot to pay back in 2 years. I wish we hadn't needed it but we just hadn't accounted for how much things had gone up so it was either borrow from him or don't finish the house.

I am well on track with the making £5 a day to pay him back section of the plan. I received a £24.00 MS payment today taking my total to
£242.37/£2700 (8.97%) and I only started on the weekend.

I need to get myself sorted for holidays when I get back home, I have a one to one with my boss at 10am and then I will head straight home. I should be home by 4pm.
Tonight I will pay a few bills before I miss any while on holidays.

  • I couldn't just talk about it, I had to do it. I have just paid off a total of £869.78 off the debt. I wasn't going to pay the Virgin CC due to the date the statement generates but with only £649!!!!!! left on it, the minimum payment should only be around £25 so I'm sure I'll find that.
So to sum todays payments off
One payment left on the Virgin CC of £649 (will be clear on July 25th, 6 days before 0% deal ends)
£200 paid to Sainsburys card, the balance has now dropped to below 8k (this is next card to tackle when Virgin is paid off)
£20 paid to ex employer, just plodding along with this one, they can wait!!

  • 3 days left, this holiday has gone so quickly. DH couldn't get up this morning so I have 5 mins while he's getting ready.
I'll do a debt update when I get back as some DD have gone out but holiday spends wise we are on track and should not overspend so thats a positive.
It is absolutely boiling here, I have a nice tan and lots of mossy bites to go with it!!

  • Well, thats this years holiday over and done with, now it's time to start saving for the big one next April.
Holiday spends were tight but only ended up overspending by £4 plus a couple of other costs incurred because our flight home last night got cancelled!! That was so stressful, less than 24 hours we were due to fly home we got the dreaded text to say we had been booked onto a different flight. The flight was this morning and into Gatwick, that was no good for us, we had originally flown from Heathrow and by the time we got home from Gatwick it would be later on this evening, no time to sort ourselves out before work tomorrow. We did accept an earlier flight yesterday morning but we could not change our national express bus home so had to rebook, costing us £46. We did not want to wait for 8 hours until the bus we were booked on came.

I will check in later on with a better update, I'm feeling like I need an afternoon nap now.

  • Trying my hardest to stay awake, I must not close my eyes!!

I've just spent a short while taking a chance to see if i can at least get my travel costs back from BA. From what I've read, I probably won't but if I don't try, I don't get.

While I've been away £231.88 of direct debits have come out that have come off the debt figure, so close to £12k paid off this year.
I've cashed out £37.02 from Prolific this morning, that will go towards FIL once its hit my YNAB so I can officially put it in the right category.
DH First Choice bonus still hasn't been paid yet, it's by no way late but going on the timescale of mine, I thought he would have had it by now.
The car insurance is due for renewal next week, my auto renewal is way cheaper than anything else I can find by over £20 a month, its gone up £5 but a new quote over £240 a year more!! I know that new rules came in a few years ago but I didn't realise it would be that much.

Went to Asda this morning, left £85 poorer. I knew it would be more than usual as we are completely bare. I've started dieting today, yet again. I felt so uncomfortable on holidays, even though I'd lost some weight before I left, it wasn't enough, plus I swell loads in the heat.
I have 4 weeks working from home so I am following Slimming World, I know it works for me and when I work away, I'll just have to make healthier choices. I'm also going to make sure I hit 10k steps a day, I've been slacking lately.
Tonight is spag bol and I've already made a salad to take to work tomorrow. I've also joined the cutting down on alcohol thread, I need to do this for the waistline as well as the money.

Sorry to hear you had a nightmare getting home that’s such a shame but well done on the budgeting £4 over is excellent!
I also swell in the heat especially abroad usually can’t get my rings on and it makes me feel bigger than I am, for that reason I never take anything on the tight  side.
I had My car renewal last week £167 but the cheapest I could get on a comparison site was £240, before I took it out I rang and changed address and it went up to £183, which I thought odd because this estate is much calmer with less crime and it’s a drive not on the road 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • It was the same for me when I moved, nicer area but it went up. As much as I would like to find a cheaper quote and get some cash back, I must admit I like not having the hassle.
