I have my main account with Nat west where wages go in and then several other current accounts I use for rewards and for switching. I made £775 this year, mypartner made another £600. Definitely worth a try.

  • Good evening everyone. Killing a little time before I head out for a meal for my SIL's birthday.

Had a little surprise today. I sold a watch that I apparently had listed on Vinted. I must have listed this at least 2 years ago and didn't realise it would still be on there until I got the notification on my phone that I needed to post it. Thats £30 I wasn't expecting.

Looking back at the week, it's been a good week. I have lost 9lbs since starting Slimfast 10 days ago. I am starting to feel the hunger a bit now but will persevere for another 2 or 3 weeks until I go on holiday. I have also walked more so that has helped. I've walked 40 miles in the last week. I think the poor dog wants a break.

Prolific now has £31.15 ready to pay out and and a further £30.82 pending. I also get paid for a few mystery shops I did on Monday so thats all positive. I'm going to complete the First Direct switch for DH tomorrow. That pays within 28 days of paying in £1000 so I should see that money in July with a bit of luck. The Amazon voucher can take up to 120 days but I was going to save that for Christmas anyway.

I have learnt that our flight to Nice on June 30th is on one of the days security staff are striking at Heathrow. I have everything crossed that this doesn't affect us but I have a funny feeling the flight will get cancelled as its not till 18:30. I will start to read up on our rights just incase the worst does happen.

    Have a great evening everyone.

  • I'm having a lazy start to the day. DH is in work, he hasn't been working weekends recently and I feel that I've had no time to myself so it feels good to just potter around at my own leisure.

Today I need to switch my work laptop on and do some work. When I was finishing early in the week, I was coming home and getting distracted to thats my own fault really. Not to self- Do not let this happen again.

Selling that watch on Vinted has got me looking at whether it will be worth looking what clothes I have that I no longer wear, Its just finding the energy to do that as it takes so much effort.....Other than that, a lazy day on the cards.

  • I have a long commute back and fore work this week. After Monday, it's fair to say I'm fed up already. 2 hours each way its turning out to be with the traffic.

Good news, myself and DH nationwide payment got paid today. I have just added it to a pot I call left over money until I decide what I want to do with that. I suppose that pot is an emergency fund really as without that theres nothing spare.

  • I've been a bit quiet this week. Really busy again. I'm having a day working from home today. I got bit by something when were out walking on Tuesday night and my knee has gone up like a balloon today.

I had an email of Eon today to tell me my fixed tariff is coming to an end. Its ends 30th July and they have told me my DD will increase to £49 a month. Why does this sound too cheap to me. I know I fortunatly haven't been affected by energy tariffs yet but I was expecting about £200 a month. Am I missing something. I've been with Eon for 4 years now so they know my usage etc....

Right now down to the money. This month I have only paid my regular payments. I think i've decided an emergency fund is needed and I aim to get that up to £1000 before I pay any extra of the debt. That currently stands at £739.71. I hope to have this up to the £1000 by the end of the month.

I've been thinking about the Sainsburys card. This is the one I'm due to make a big dent in next, paying around £600 a month off. When I opened the First Direct account it came with a 7% regular saver that I can pay up to £300 a month into. Myself and DH have one. I would not have £600 a month spare to pay into these but if I just made the minimum payment to the card and put the rest in these accounts each account would make £138 after a year and then I would pay this money off the card in a years time. For an extra £276 is it worth it? I really don't know what to do. This card is at 0% until next September. I'll have a think on that one.

I don't want to jinx myself but Prolific has been really good to me, I still haven't cashed out but theres £85 between ready to pay and pending at the moment. That will go into the Emergency fund at the end of the month.

  • Hi, re the saver, yes it's definitely worth it - it's free money. Also having that money in savings gives you many more options. That would be my choice. Keep up the good work V x
  • Thanks @vampirotoothus, I have been swaying towards that as like you say its free money.

We booked our flights to Orlando last night, a little extravagant but we are flying out in Upper Class. Its a one off for us and we had loads of air miles from where we weren't travelling throughout the pandemic so we thought, why not.

Not much else happening but at least its Friday!!!

  • Good morning. I don't know where to start today, I seem to have so much to do, I don't feel like I've had a minute since I finished work on Friday.
    Todays List.
    • Get click and collect shop from Morrisions
    • Do spreadsheets for 2nd job
    • Prep for my end of year review
    • About 10 loads of washing to do
    • Wrap fathers day present
    • Deliver fathers day present
    • Clean the house
I'd forgotten I even had to go and get that Morrisions shop until I started thinking of everything I had to do.

There is not much to report money wise, I knew it would be a quiet month with holidays coming up next week. The kitchen payment come out tomorrow. That will officially take me over the £10k paid back since I started this journey and into the £55k bracket. Hopefully by the end of the year, I will be in the £40k's.

Well I better get on with all this, it won't do itself. Have a good day everyone.

    £9400 saved for emergency fund

  • @Jrcoal5 it has come around really quickly, we fly a week Friday. Got everything done apart from my end of year review prep. I'm away with work tomorrow night so I'll make sure I do that then.

I just cashed out £72.89 from Prolific. I was going to put it in the holiday fund but I haven't put anything towards the loan from FIL this month so i paid it off that. Kitchen payment going out tomorrow so I think that will be the last of the debt payments this month
