  • i hate going out and splitting the bill, thankfully we only every do that if we are just about even, i hate quibbling over pennies with good friends, but when there is a big difference i just say no im paying for what i had, put the cash down and walk out and let the rest sort it between them however they want to.  i always take cash with me for that reason, i just dont give them the choice.  only once has someone queried it and caused a fuss.  i literally eat toddler sized portions so no way am i paying for someone elses 3 course meal and drinks when ive had a starter and tap water given i cant eat and drink at the same time.

hope you have a good hump day  and enjoy the rest of the week.

  • Good morning.
At last its Friday and I just have a few hours to get through and whoop, a 3 day weekend.
Nothing much planned for the weekend, we may have a BBQ at my mothers tomorrow, although, I don't think thats been 100% decided. I also have a mystery shop tomorrow. Not a big payer but can get some groceries reimbursed.

I was a little miffed this morning, I've had another Netflix payment come out of my account that I hadn't budgeted for. Apparently it's to do with when it was cancelled with the Sky package. I will have a look through YNAB and see where I'm going to pull the overspend from. I'm still loving YNAB, I am aware of what I'm spending every penny on. Before, we were just chucking everything on the credit card so had no idea if we were spending more than we were earning. I kind of knew we were as the credit just kept building but I just didn't see it as leaving beyond our means.
I was never waiting for payday, now next Thursday can't come quick enough.
The TV payment. came out so that another £27.78 from the debt figure.

I was paid for the mystery shops I did last week, today. Thats £107, I have just added it to the left over money category for now and will decide at the end of the month where to send anything left over to. It's nice to have left over money.

Prolific is just dead, I think its best not to hold much hope on that until the next academic year begins.

  • Thank you the BBQ was lovely and we had enough left over for today but we've been outside all day painting the fence. Didn't realise the time and came in at 7pm, decided it was too late to get the BBQ going as DH has to be up for work at 5am. Absolutely nothing in the freezer we could just whip up so DH has popped out for pizza. It's the first impulsive spend we've had in 9 weeks so I'm just going to suck that one up and cover it with the money we have left over.
Its been a bit breezier today but I have caught the sun, I have a watch mark and can see the lines from my shoes. I have done 14,000 steps today and my paint brush wasn't on my watch hand lol.
Tomorrow we have to do the second coat but I have to wait for DH to get home around 3pm to start that as apparently I need supervision. He is a perfectionist with things like this and I can always see him looking over my shoulder.

Tomorrow, I may try and get a few bits and pieces listed on the marketplace, I haven't got a lot but there is a fridge in the garage we don't use and nothing wrong with it and I have some Fitbit scales that are no good since I got rid of my Fitbit. Must find the motivation for this!!!

  • Up early this morning, I'm going to take the dog for a nice long walk before it gets too hot for her. She struggles terribly in this heat. She has loads of dog cooling bits and pieces but is too dull to use them.

Happy to report that at last I have enough in Prolific to cash out. I'll leave it until this evening incase any more surveys come up but thats not too likely.
I signed back into VYPR today, I haven't logged into this for years and while its not a massive payer, it was easy for say £5 a month. I also rejoined the NielsenIQ shopping panel again yesterday. I stopped doing it when we moved in with my parents last summer and applications don't open very often so when I saw an Ad on instagram, I went for it.

It looks like another nice day so enjoy your bank holiday!!

  • So I didn't get around to my update yesterday. I started a diet ready for holidays and I'm feeling a little cranky.

Yesterday, I paid off a total of 257.88. This was mainly through direct debits that come out on the first. i will get around to paying the Sainsbury's card tomorrow and the Virgin card will have to wait until next week as the statement generates on the 4th so it'll be wanting another payment before payday if I pay it too soon. I am £43.67 away from being in the next £000 bracket and it will hopefully go down to the bracket after that before the end of the month.
I can't believe I started this journey 6 months ago with £66,000 worth of debt and it'll soon be down to £56,000. Still a lot of debt I know but at least its going in the right direction.

There are a lot of family birthdays from the end of May to the beginning of July. Luckily presents are all saved for. I'm looking to buy things for people rather than give them money as that way I may find a deal or get some cash back, however when we give money people expect £50 as thats what we've always given. I managed to get my SIL a present that should have been £57 for £23 and she will never know I didn't spend that much. We are also out for dinner for her birthday next Saturday, same group as last time, so I have made it clear I'm paying for what I eat.

I've booked to have my haircut this afternoon. I budgeted £85 for it but I'm sure it will be less. I normally have cut and colour but have decided to box dye to save money so thats why I'm unsure of the price. Speaking of which, I didn't realise the time and better get myself moving!!

  • It's one of them things, where thats what we've always spent on each other so its kind of expected now.

I've not been so good with my updates lately, mainly because there isn't any. Yesterday was a very spendy day. We bought all the toiletries ready for holidays, went out for an hour to the beer garden and DH bought some new clothes for holidays. Luckily everything was budgeted for.

Today I have paid £200 off the sainsburys card. I will be paying £200 in July and then come August when the Virgin card is paid off, I will start attacking this one hard. The balance currently stands at £8132 and needs to be paid off by September 2024. So that will be around £533 a month. I hope to but more towards it as I'm currently paying £647 to the Virgin and £200 to Sainsburys but it is leaving things a little tight so I don't want to snowball it all straight away. See how that goes...

Going for a BBQ up my mams soon, DH is in charge which he's not too impressed about, then back to get sorted for work tomorrow.

Hope everyones had a good weekend.
