  • thats good to hear, just means you being away will be able to see the big improvement in her rather than the day to day and not maybe seeing anything positive changing for a couple of days.  we are almost half way through the week and you will be there seeing her in no time x
  • How I hate this middle of the month period. I haven't really had anything to report.
One good thing is that DH finally seems to be on board with the budgeting. He's been calling me while I've been away this week and asking if theres money in the budget for this and that.
We both need a few clothes to go away next month and as we get paid twice in June, we have allowed ourselves £100 each to get some and he was asking today when he will get the £100 as he's seen some good offers. Before he would have just bought them without even thinking whether we can afford it. He's also been saving his personal spends so he has money to spend at the airport. I haven't had the heart to tell him I've budgeted for that. Now we've made this progress I think I'll try and get him interested in actually setting the budget.

I have made a £2 PAD, there hasn't really been anything happening for me make anymore. The kitchen payment goes out tomorrow so that will be another £300 off the total debt figure.

Have a good evening, last day away today and I'm home for at least the next 4 weeks.

  • The kitchen payment went out today, thats made my overall debt figure go into the lower half of the £000 bracket now which is encouraging.
Treating myself to a little lie in, I've pretty much finished the job I'm on this week, so will head for breakfast in half an hour, into work for an hour and then make the 3 hour journey home.
I booked a mystery shop in for tomorrow, I did think I was getting paid for some today but I misread and its Monday and the remaining ones will be paid next Friday due to the bank holiday the following Monday.
An old friend had a tree cut down in her garden and asked if anyone wanted the logs, I checked with DH they were any good and and they are so we are picking them up this evening. I haven't seen her in over 10 years so it will be lovely to catch up. I attempted to teach her to drive many years ago, that was an experience!!

Well have a good day everyone.

    £9400 saved for emergency fund

  • Yesterday was more spendy than I planned. I decided to plan our meals right up until the end of May, seen as I'm home for the next few weeks. £91 later I'm left with about a tenner for any top up shops we need. I always knew that the grocery budget would go completely. I just can't believe how expensive food is now.
DH came home from work and decided he didn't just want to sit around the house on a nice day so we ended up going for a walk to the beer garden and spent £10.30. That has come from the eating out fund so hopefully our Indian doesn't come to more than £65 tonight. I'm driving so it will be soft drinks for me.

Looks like another gorgeous day. First load of washing is on and I'm going with my mother and sister to walk the dog shortly before it gets to hot for her. I love the summer but its awful seeing the poor pooch suffering and she will do nothing to help herself. Lies in the sun, lies next to her cooling mat. For a very intelligent dog, she's very silly too.
All in all a busy day today, plus I didn't finish my work report from last week so I need to do that too.

I've completed around £11 of surveys this weekend, although none of them have paid yet. I did a mystery shop yesterday and I'm pretty sure the staff member cottoned onto me being the mystery shopper. I best avoid that place for a while.
Hope its nice and sunny wherever you are. Have a lovely day.

  • Missed a day yesterday, just not a lot to report.

Went for am Indian for FIL birthday on Sunday, the entire family were there so 10 adults and an 8 year old. I drank soft drinks, didn't have a starter or dessert. Got to the end of the meal and they said, shall we just split it. I was so annoyed, I tried to casually say, Can I just pay for what I had but that turned into a big deal so I just sucked it up. We ended up paying for about £17 more than we had, it was divided by 10 even though the 8 year old had a decent meal, dessert and 3 J20's. I was fuming, realise I still am as I write this!!

Not much else to say. £7.52 cashed out from Prolific thats gone straight to pay FIL off. I can't actually wait to make inroads into this as I feel like its being held against us while we do owe it, but maybe thats just my imagination.

Hope everyones having a better week than me!!

  • Happy Hump Day!!
It seems like such a long week.

@Jrcoal5 its so annoying isn't it. What annoys me more is we often go out in these big groups and its only ever lets split it if they are going to benefit from it. I'd much rather just pay for what I eat.

It's a real quiet week from a money perspective, I have £1.45 as todays PAD, from a quidco payment I got this morning. There will be no major impact to the debt figure until next week when it's eventually payday.

I'm feeling completely exhausted this week, while it's nice being able to come home every night, the commute I have this week is 1 hour 10 mins each way and it really takes it out of me. I've been leaving early to avoid the rush hour too so theres some long days. At least there's another long weekend to look forward to and the weather looks good. We think we may pull the BBQ out.
