  • Thats actually one of the thought processes behind it, we are apart more than we have ever been in our 13 years together now so we have to make out time off count.

  • First time I haven't updated daily for a while yesterday, work was mad again and I didn't end up leaving Wolverhampton until 5pm and had a 3 hour drive home.

I haven't got around to paying the CC's yet, that will probably be a job for tomorrow as I have a Coronation party at the Inlaws today. I have a Tirimisu to make for that this morning and I wanted to have a bit of a clean up this morning. DH keeps the house tidy while I'm away in the week but doesn't seem to grasp the concept of cleaning and thinks just because the house is tidy, that its clean.

We need to do a big shop tomorrow, with us both being home all week we need to make sure theres plenty here to avoid the temptation of going out or getting takeaways, although we do have a budget for both.

Have an amazing weekend whatever you are doing.

  • Well so far today has been a write off. Apart from the fact I am feeling slightly hungover from I don't even want to think how many glasses of wine, I had a terrible nights sleep. We had the In Laws labrador sleeping over, so there were 2 adults and 2 labs squashed in 1 bed and I'm always the ones that gets pushed out.

I have been to Asda for the weekly shop, £88 but we have enough now that we won't need to go to a shop all week if not a little longer.

I've still not got around to paying some money off the credit cards but I will do this tomorrow and I will make a £5 PAD as I've missed the last 4 days.

We ordered some gravel to finish the garden, we have budget of £508 but so far only spent £326. Will need a couple of other bits but would say that there will be at least £100 left in this category.
We also arranged our car hire for Florida next year, £623. That doesn't need to be paid until 8 weeks before we go and all been well there is a solid plan there for holidays.

I think a small nap may be in order before we go to my mothers for dinner.

I feel your hangover because I’m the same we went out at 2 to a local pub with my work friends, we did get in at a very respectable 10.30, terrible nights sleep due to Mr J snoring 😴
I do not know how you could get a wink of sleep with 2 dogs on the bed, hope you manage an early night or a nice nap today xx

  • Happy Bank Holiday Everyone!!

Its a miserable day here, I've just sat around waiting for surveys all day and reading through diaries. I have had some luck with Prolific though, £9.15 worth of surveys completed but unfortunetly, theres still nothing to cash out.

Today I have finally got around to making them payments to the credit cards. £845.73 has been paid off taking me comfortably into the next £000 bracket with £8428.70 paid off since I started this journey back in December.
I'm still finding the high numbers completely overwhelming and I haven't set a debt free date as of yet. I'm thinking as it will be so far away that it may demotivate me but on the other hand I think if I set one and I can keep knocking months off it that may have the opposite affect.

I think I need to start making lists of things I want to achieve, I see this in so many peoples diaries and it seems to work for them, maybe it'll give me a bit more motivation to get things done.

We are having a film night tonight, bought a few munchies and may have a takeaway using the Love to Shop vouchers we got from completing a survey for the food standards agency. We haven't 100% decided on that one yet.

@Jrcoal5 I hope you are feeling better today, yesterday was just a complete write off for me. I'm trying to get through the next 8 weeks with no alcohol. I worked out we spend about £20 a week on alcohol and when I see it like that I just think why do I do it. I'll see how that goes though. I'm not making any big declaration on that front!!

  • I love a new diary and its amazing to see how much you have paid off in such a short amount of time.  gives me some hope!  glad that you have managed to book some treats in, your holiday sounds amazing.  we havent been away in ages, but id rather make some inroads into the debt this year and then reassess next year, but if we do go anywhere it will end up being a last minute deal if anything.

    looking forward to further udpates.

Yes feeling much better today hope you are to! I’m not a big drinker and only drink if I’m actually going out which these days is not often! My next night out is the next bank holiday, it is so expensive I thinks why I don’t bother, well that and the fact it just makes me fall asleep 😴

I think setting some goals or milestones is a great idea, maybe a target for the year rather than a debt free date?

Did you join the debt free by Xmas challenge? I find that really good and you can set your target yourself I have just increased mine, pop along if you’re already there it’s never too late to join xx you have almost paid £10000 off!! You’ll be there by the middle of the year that’s absolutely outstanding!

  • I joined the Pay all Your debt off by Christmas with a target of £12,000 for the year. I didn't stick with it and was feeling like a bit of a fraud as I was only paying off the minimums and wasn't making much of an effort to reduce it by more. Maybe I'll take a look again this week.

Today I have made a PAD of £6.94. Thats a mix of a payout from Prolific and a little interest that landed in an account I actually have no money in. I must have been using it for something last year.

I will check back in later as I plan on having a productive day so hopefully there will be some bits and pieces to report.

Thanks for popping in. When I look at how much I have paid it does look like progress. I'm just so inpatient!! I want it gone now.
