  • Thanks @Jrcoal5. They have taken her from the main part of A&E to a side ward where she will stay until theres space on the stroke ward but basically shes sharing this ward with people who have over dosed or been in car accidents and its a little upsetting for her. Also shes next to a man which hasn't gone down well!!

Poor Nan that is just not the place for a 92 year old lady I’m sure being next to a male she doesn’t know is uncomfortable and upsetting for her, any news today on her being moved to the stroke ward?
    Thinking of you all xx

  • @Jrcoal5 thank you so much for your concern. It really means a lot knowing someone I've never met can show such genuine concern
She was transferred to the stroke ward yesterday lunchtime, I went to visit her last night and while she is well, there are some obvious changes in her that are so upsetting to see.
She's my last grandparent and with her not living too far away from me, we've always been close.
The stroke has currently left her incontinent which is distressing and embarrassing for her, as even at 92 she's always been so independent.

Aw bless her I can’t lie I shed a few tears for you and for her, it’s so hard, I am glad she has a bed where she needs to be, I have no grandparents now I lost my last one my beloved Gran when I was 22 and that was 21 years ago now so a long time, I wish something I could say would make it easier but it won’t so just know I’m thinking of you and your Nan and here to listen xx

  • Today I cashed out from Prolific, first time in a couple of days, £5.92 so that was todays PAD. I also managed to do the same survey 3 times this morning. It was pretty simple, and highly amusing for DH but it made me £8.57 before I even left for my 3 hour drive to Staffordshire this morning.

Thanks to LMD new savings diary, I came across the app Zipzero. I have built up £3.92 on that in a week so I will continue with that. These receipt scanning apps aren't too much of a pain.

Budget wise, we are now half way through the month. I still have £100 left in the grocery budget, that should be okay. I'm away this week and DH has enough food to see him through the week. We haven't touched the takeaway budget of £60 which is a massive achievement especially when we were on annual leave last week. It's the FIL birthday next week, we have £75 in the budget to eat out for that but we shouldn't need that much. I don't mean to sound like I'm being tight but whenever's its one of DH family members birthday we always go out for a meal. I appreciate its nice to do that but a meal for 2 and a birthday present means we are paying £150 out on someones birthday.

  • @Jrcoal5 doing the math, I've realised we must be close to the same age. I'm 42 and didn't lose my first grandparent until I was 21. That was my grandad, my nan's husband, she's never got over it and whenever anything like this happens she always asks why she didn't just get to be with my grandad again.
Thank you for being a friendly ear.

  • A £8.57 PAD was made to the loan from the FIL. I think I've said before but he doesn't want any of it back until we have it all so I'm just popping what I have to one side, (Not that theres a lot yet).

Theres not really a lot else to report, its that middle of the month bit, where payday has been and gone and bills have already left the account....although I will be getting a couple of extra paydays from mystery shops this month.

I think I'm going to venture a little away from the hotel for dinner tonight. The restaurant by the hotel is quite expensive and I'll end up eating the same thing all week so I don't go over my £25.

  • been awol for a few days.  just catching up, well done on those mystery shops and surveys!  thats a huge chunk earned for minimal effort in the grand scheme of things.

hows your gran doing now?  life is cruel and its a sad state of affairs that she was kept waiting for a bed, hopefully there is more positive news now?

i recently lost a grandparent and have just one left, thankfully i didnt loose grandparents till my mid 20's. having worked in a care its made me appreciate my own grandparents and my husbands all that more as those precious memories are things that you cant make more of, things you can buy but memories only have a finite time to be made.
  • @shoppingobsessed2020 thank you for commenting.
Things are looking a little more positive, she's feeling a lot better and apparently this shows when you visit her. I'm away this week so I can't see her myself which is hard for me.
