My Christmas 23 saver form and cheque were both dated the 1st of December and were posted on the 30th November and undoubtedly held up by the strike.

I had a call last Wednesday (21st) to advise that my account would be opened as of the 6th.

The cheque for my Christmas 23 saver is today showing as pending at my bank (meaning my £200 will depart my account tonight).

    Update:

I received my passbook today (3/1), the account was opened and credited on 22/12/22. Maybe I misheard! Account added to online service without mishap, current balance reads zero and pending. Just need to sort the S/O now
I also got my passbook today - showing the account opened and credited 07/12, cheque not cleared until 29/12.

So the advice to you the account would be opened on the 6th was plausible, if not what they have actually done.

(I posted my application form and cheque on 25/11)

I, too, received the email today thanking me for opening the account which has had the £250 cheque cashed but as yet no account details etc and asking me to complete an online survey! I had to smile at the heading - WE NEED YOUR HELP. True words indeed! I am surprised they have time to read the replies!

The balance always reads zero on the online service until they process the addition. The word Pending will be replaced with your name when properly added. Mine has been pending for about a week with a zero balance (should be £200).

Today I received my passbook and bumpf. The passbook shows a deposit of £200.00 on 16 December, however my cheque has not been cashed yet.

received passbook today, cheque cashed today but dated as cashed 30th December in passbook., so so pleased, well worth leaving £200 in non interest earning current account for a month.  I just got in  :D phew

Wife received her passbook today with zero balance.

Just did a faster payment to the account. Hopefully it will be credited in December. Not sure what would happen if it gets credited in January.
It will probably not show on your online balances in December but the payment will be backdated to today so she should be fine.
:)  That was close! Not sure it would have worked if she received her passbook one day later on Saturday 31st.

It should have worked alright if she received it on Saturday 31st. I made a £200 deposit on New Year's day and that went through alright.

  • The wait for a passbook and account number goes on at Smeeton Towers :D
