subjecttocontract said:I applied 26th November and still haven't got all of my stuff......worst/ most delayed application for anything, anywhere at any time for me. The wooden spoon award goes to Monmouthshire Building Society for a complete failure in customer service.
Not worth the effort, delay, stress and annoyance IMO.

It’s still going to be 60 odd quid for the price of a stamp and a bit of patience. Won’t be knocking it too much.Save £12k in 2020 #42 £12,551.25 / £14,000 89.65%1

Monmouthshire sent me a letter dated and postmarked the 8th December. I received it on Monday 9th January, along with a number of other letters delayed by around the same period.3 -

Mon BS however, at a system level, still requires a signed letter posted with a passbook and a cancelled cheque to request a withdrawal by bank transfer, in the absence of an original or certified copy of a bank statement substantiating a nominated account. Note how nothing on part of the customer requires any form of digital processing; home computers and the internet don't even have to exist, let alone smart devices.3 -
I don't buy any of the sympathy or excuses being offered in Monmouthshires' defence. I have received my passbook which has been credited with my initial £200 and hopefully the first standing order payment......but that's a guess because :
What I don't have is something called an 'activation code' which is needed for online access. Still it's only been 46 days or 6.5 weeks. You couldn't make it up if you tried.0 -

MONBS have to bear a lot of the responsibility for having such antiquated systems and processes, but what we don't know is why.
It could be because they're only a small society and don't see need to change/update, it could be because they don't have the investment capital to enable change, it could be that they got just caught out with the demand (no excuse if it's that), it could be because the FCA are/have been looking at them and are under scrutiny, therefore are more thorough or it could be anything else, who knows ?
The RM strike/XMAS holidays clearly compounded and worsened the situation. Swiss Cheese !
What's more important is that they learn from this and adapt where possible.1 -
