QueenJess said:Ooh - thanks very much for my medal @Mrs_Salad_Dodger.I have been online, measured up and made some preliminary decisions re: how to make DD's room work properly. It will repurpose most of what we have and we just have to buy 2 frames. I've then moved one piece of furniture in DD's room to see roughly how it would look and am liking it already. Just need to think about how to move the rest round so I can get the best feel of how it will look before I buy anything. I will be excited to get that room and the dreaded clothes finally sorted. In the meantime, I went through the overflowing box of clothes for DD's next size up. I managed to declutter a bit, but I still have too much there. I was finding it difficult to do more, so I suspect I will need to do multiple rounds. I really want to get it into 1 box ideally! A little bit everyday is definitely the easiest way to do this for me.459-67 - kids clothes (too many! - gone to school charity bag)

I'm not managing to keep up reading all the posts at the moment as it's just going too fast for me but I have done a bit more decluttering.
10 more books to the charity shop last week and 6 bags of clothes DS has outgrown to a neighbour today. They were very grateful and I was glad to be able to pass them on to someone who can use them. I've estimated 10 items per bag so 60 in total.
That makes me up to 104/2023 now so a reasonable start for halfway through January. Well done to everyone keeping up the good work - little by little we'll get there!17 -

Evening All
Found this on my decluttering journey today. Its called a Thunderball and reacts to sound and touch. It was a Christmas present many years ago, never been out of its box. I thought I'd get it out for a bit and then if I dont like it will give it to the charity shop. So far I'm liking, gives off a cosy glow.
Giving the paperwork a rest for today, did go throught the two holdalls though. One was mostly holiday things, travel pillow, flight socks, etc, the other one was miscellaneous, deluttered
4 computer/phone cables (work)
A watch box, like a jewellery box for watches and 6 watches inside, all work, just need batteries (CS)
7 new keyrings (CS)
Binned:
Broken ID card holder (Broken)
Half a box of confetti
Pair of heal grips (new but ancient)
Petrol can spout
Small charm
3 button badges
Marie Curie daffodils
5 ID badges from previous Jobs/conferences - destroyed and binned
Found a box of travel paraphernalia, leaflets, tickets to museums, etc. I will be having a serious cull of this box but I want to scrapbook some of it first to have a little book of memories, then I will discard what I don't need.😃 😀

Decluttering is coming along slowly, I only seem to get to it at the weekend and there are so many other DIY jobs to be done that take up my spare time. Everyone else seems to be making much faster progress than me, but I'm very good at putting off tackling the worst of it!
35: Expired shower gel to bin
36: Shampoo and conditioner set that did nothing for my hair to friend
37-38: Two board games to CS
39: Pencil holder to CS
40-43: 4 computer program disks given away online
44: Conditioner sold online to post office
45-49: 5 items of clothing sold on eBay to post office (I got an 80% off final selling fees the other week so made the most of it)
50-52: 3 product boxes no longer required to recycling
53-54: T-shirt and leggings to bin as they both had holes and I have plenty of cleaning rags"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Paul Theroux16 -

Thank-you Mrs SaladDodger for your kind comments. I'm a bit obsessed about hedgehogs. They're dirty, smelly, noisy, grumpy and beautiful 😍. Today DP and I had a tidy up outside. All my washing dried and I decluttered lots of redundant plastic to the bin. I'm itching to start weeding but it's too cold. That being said we have a very live and let live attitude to gardening. Probably why we have so much wildlife. Anyhow our hog gets let out of her enclosure tonight. Hopefully she'll hang around and have babies in the Spring.18

I'm trying to keep up with all the posts but this train must be a bullet train things are moving so fast! Also I'm the same as you skint_chick because I don't have much time during the week and so it's going slowly so far.
This weekend I've taken 9 things to the charity shop and 4 bulky things to the tip so my total out is only 20 so far this year. But I've only had 1 item in and have finally managed to get the Christmas decorations back up into the loft, so happy with that.17 -
Thankyou @Fayolle This is not the first time he has split and may go back although by the nature of her texts it is unlilkely. Well done on the decluttering. Getting into the hard corners is very satisfying.
Don't worry about everyone else''s speed @skint_chick. We all have our own pace and many of us do what we can when we can as real life gets in the way. I have this great fantasy image of me just clearing everything and all will be beautiful. This image is about 30 years old now but I keep at it. LOL
I hope the hedgehog is going to roam free and be happy after all your care @Madbat60I too love the little critters.
So a fairly good day so far. I didn't do all that I wanted as I was shattered after a disturbed night. DS1 keeping odd hours and not too quiet at 4 in the morning.
Took GrS3 for a walk. He slept all the way and I delivered him back to DiL 1.5 hours later still asleep. Home to DS3 and his little family. DS3 had competed his project with DH and wanted to go for a walk. I was soooo tired that I declined but DH went. Good too as he hardly walks anywhere due to working from home. I had a nap.
I haven't been to the In laws yet but I have DH all day tomorrow as he takes a week off between jobs. We are both going to go together and give it a good few hours.
Positive note. DS3 took a bag of clothes for him and a bag of plastic ball for their ball pit. So 2 bags out today. Yay.

We seem to have been decluttering money like it's going out of fashion, ordered some new furniture for the lounge. The existing sofas are over 20 years old, but we wanted new following our building work. We can now get a 3 seater sofa in the lounge, so 2 two seaters are going. The shop said they would take them away for £89, but we'd rather give them away to BHF as they've still got some life in them and are good and clean, and it saves us £89!Moved the bedroom furniture around today, new bed coming on Wednesday, existing bed going to the guest room, so we are sleeping in there again for a couple of nights. We returned some Christmas decs and other bits and pieces to the loft.I need to go through a box of business books I no longer need and see if I can find a way to sell them and get some money back. Last year's calendar has been shredded. The missing table cloths have been located in the cupboard over the airing cupboard, so that means I can finally remove the Christmas table cloth and shove it through the wash.We dragged our potted standard Bottle Brush bush nearer to the house and covered it in a clear bin liner and some bubble wrap as it's showing signs of some frost damage presumably that cold snap in December, and the forecast is much colder over the next few days. Fingers crossed it will be enough.Make £2025 in 2025

@Keiths_Mum DD had one of those for Christmas, she loves it! She saw one at the Science Museum in the summer and Father Christmas somehow knew this....
Today, I pushed myself too far. We went out for Brunch to the garden centre (not much walking involved), then I promised DD that we could go to Local Town and I gave her a £10 all4one voucher I'd had from work. This didn't require much more walking, so I thought I'd be ok. Not so. I spent most of the time trying not to faint/vomit. Thankfully, OH was with us (no way I'd have taken her alone). I have to remember that my Hb was very, very low and will take a while to recover. OTOH, I don't know what to expect and I can't always get it right....
Ho hum, onwards and upwards....
I was determined to plod on though, so I sat in bed and decluttered DD's christmas craft stuff and a jewellery box of bracelets
47. DD's christmas craft stuff -some destined for the charity shop next Nov, packaging stuff in recycling/bin
48. Bracelet box- most destined for charity shop, 3 kept, some destined for the bead box17
