Hello, wet and dismal here. So wished we had booked a mini break somewhere warm but hey ho no point feeling glum. Instead making other plans. Meeting sister and her family tomorrow for a lunch catch up, 1 hr drive for both of us. Bought some nice nibbles for tomorrow evening. Plans made to meet friends next week as I'm off and DD on half term.
Decluttering wise, another broken glass and pint of water over work laptop. Miraculously it still works. Decluttered monies on a new mattress at Ikea, long overdue. All Xmas rubbish and recycling cleared today, very impressed as only a day later than usual and took the extra bin bag.
Now off to continue sorting lego into sets, the dining table is covered!

Wow, the tutor got back to me super-quickly and I had hardly any changes to make so I have submitted my assignment two weeks ahead of deadline which is a first!
Tasks
Submitted assignment
Returned item to TK Maxx
IN (running total 211)
212. Bathmat
213 & 4 - 2 x drinking glasses with covers - to protect them from my cat who always tries to drink from our glassesOUT (running total 619)
620. Cat bed that doesn't meet my cat's exacting standards
Review of Decluttering Goals 2023
1. “twice as much out than in” target – for every item that comes in two should go out! I won’t count consumables as I that’s not something I stockpile.
Achieved this – in fact almost 3 times as much out than in…. 211 items in & 620 items out !!
2. I also want to continue to note life admin tasks completed as these are more of an area of weakness than accumulating “stuff” - telling people I've done them really helps motivate me.
3. Stop procrastinating on household maintenance – I made some headway last year (2022) with the windows I really need to replace kitchen and bathroom.
Well, I continued to procrastinate right up to Autumn then I had a big push – bathroom refit, radiators replaced, and roof repaired ( hopefully this will all be completed in January.)
I'm really pleased with how well I've done - particularly proud about the maintenance goal as that's such a challenge to me!
Thank you dear virtual friends for making this the loveliest, most encouraging and friendly places on the internet.
And a HUGE thank you for Mrs SD for running this thread so well and cheerleading so wonderfully 💐

Hi all - just a quick post as like many I am suffering from some evil lurgy - don't think it's covid just a heavy cold but living on Lemsip and cups of tea. DS2 is home so children have been with him all day. A few more to add to my 2023 total - I must have a more organised plan next year.

Good evening all. Hope everyone feels better soon. Sending condolences London-1 x
I've not been sleeping well and it seems to have caught up today, I've hardly moved off the sofa. I did start the top shelf in the pantry ready for the new year and threw some things, mainly OOD biscuits, some over 18 months out and others that had been opened and not finished.
Asked girls to do 20 minutes of tidying in their room as was a carpet of rubbish and they've bought a whole bin bag full down! I really should sort through it as I know there's boxes and things for the recycling but I can also see the mouldy food Leftovers, the rancid milkshakes.... I think I might go back to banning food upstairs, it wasn't allowed until DD2 broke her foot.
If I don't get on tomorrow, Happy New year to you all and see you over in 2024 (that seems to be steaming along already! Hoping that another 2000+p items and we might see a dent in this mess. Next year I'm going to keep digital decluttering separate. This year I deleted 18000 emails so 180 of my total wasn't even visible (although still over the 2023 aim)

My 2023 Review of the Year and final post before catching the new train
I managed to pass my initial goal of 500 items decluttered although painful hands then meant a long pause on everything from painting my nails to selling stuff on fleabay (cutting up boxes as parcels and wrapping them hurt too much).
I have one final magazine to read tonight and then there will be no more. Primarily because the source of the mags was my neighbour's elderly sister. Sadly she passed away recently so I would like to get back to taking books out from the library.
I made an additional £200 to add to my total by changing banks.
I unexpectedly went by emergency ambulance to A&E in September and ended up decluttering my gallbladder in November - hence my long stay in the TLC carriage. Feel fine now.
Last night I caught the xmas garland draped along the mantelpiece on my cardigan and managed to sweep almost every item onto the floor. Fortunately there was only one casualty - a Postman Pat xmas ornament. Graphic warning alert - sadly he completely lost his head (still smiling though) and I can confirm Jess the Cat has not been traumatised by this accident.
I also lost 4 stone 5 lbs this year and hope nobody thinks it too cheeky if I claim 4 declutter points, one for each stone, as I'm sure I have gained a few pounds back this month.
As ever I am indebted to all contributors to this fantastic thread for their motivation and kind words. I am enthused for what 2024 brings and will post my aims for next year on the new thread.
Mrs S_D may I add my comments to those of others, you are amazing the way you update every day and keep everyone jogging along with your wise words and sense of humour - thank you for everything you do.Decluttering 683/1000 Photo albums 3/17 Nail polishes 7/45 Cleaning products 4/28

DH and I, hindered by the children, managed to have a sort out of children’s toys in the conservatory yesterday and had a go at their bedroom’s today. We made inroads but are far from done. I’ve listed some of it on our local freebies site but will account for it in the 2024 thread as none of it has been collected yet.
DH and DS1 are off to the football at Craven Cottage tomorrow, so I will achieve nothing on the decluttering front! DS2 is very upset not to be going too but he’s only 5 and still a bit small for premier league matches, so DS2 and DD will probably go to soft play as the weather is rubbish.
Happy New Year all my lovely deculterartti 🎉🎉 and a big thank you to @Mrs_Salad_Dodger for such excellent cheerleading and absolutely keeping me going on the decluttering front this year.2025 Decluttering Campaign Mrs SD –The joy of decluttering 45.5/104⭐️

@flamingo747, thanks, with these need half the pencils
managed to knock some of the pile of things off the table at my dad's so one teapot already missing its lid in the bin alongside glass item. Old rulers, pens and other things binned and some in tip pile.
Determined that will get rid of as much as I bring back. only having things useful or I like and not broken (unless part of my 24 things to be mended next year).
Hugs to those in need, and thanks to all for keeping me going this year and look forward to being part of the declutterai next year ....17
