1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
I have finished off the hm soup for my lunch. DH eventually got up - had fed the worms& filled the bird feeders & is currently in the garage shredding peelings etc for worm food. DSis is moving about but still has the headache she woke up with 😔 You will probably notice from some of the cheerleading that I am feeling a bit grumpy BUT hopefully once this post is completed I will be in a better frame of mind 😉
TC77, thanks for the reminder about checking gift bags 👏 What a great idea to do a photo shoot of your house 🥳 - I think I need to do that as well 😉 It sounds like your Plan of Action for your 2024 Decluttering Campaign is coming along nicely 😊
Brie, I know the law hasn’t actually changed but just another reminder that the government is determined that no-one will get ahead 😔 Yes I am feeling rather grumpy but hopefully I can leave it here on the 2023 thread 🤞😂 One of my aims for 2024 is to lower my blood pressure 🤞😉
dND, sounds like you have had a lovely Christmas 😊 & very well done on resisting temptation in the sales 👏🥳 Just wondering if there has been any movement on the house buying front? It seems like it has been going on forever 😔 Excellent digital decluttering 👏 You must be champing at the bit to move into your new home & start decluttering your storage containers 😉
TC77, hears hoping that you do manage your mega clear out even if does mean paying a little extra tax 😢 although it does pain me to say so 😔
London_1, thanks for that 👏 Although I think Charity Shops must dread this time of year when the media start writing about decluttering & completely ‘forget’ that decluttering should be spread out over the year & not used as an excuse to ‘dump stuff’ for other people to sort 😔 Can you tell I am feeling a bit grumpy 🤣🤣
QueenJess, as you say not a new rule but just a reminder that our government are determined to keep turning the screws on & keeping people as poor as possible 😡 whilst lining their own pockets 😔 Cynical I know but……….. & I apologise for jumping on my soapbox 😞 I was very heartened to read that 2024 is going to be the “Year of Rediscovering Yourself” 😊👏 especially if it means that you can confuse your DD 🤣 Another excellent bout of decluttering 👏 & you still have the weekend to reach your 40,000 target 😉
Liverpool_Anne, sorry to hear that you are still testing positive 😔 However, it does sound like you are feeling a bit better & that the enforced staying in is helping both you & OH to catch up on your sleep & rest 😉 You have still managed to keep up with your decluttering so please try not to be too frustrated at not doing as much as you would have liked 🙏 DundeeDoll has rather succinctly expressed how a positive reassessment of our Decluttering Journey can help us to celebrate 🥳 rather than be downhearted 😊
DundeeDoll, what a lovely positive post 😊😊 Thank you for sharing your reflections on your 2023 Decluttering Journey 👏 I am so impressed with your final comment that I am quoting it below as a reminder to our fellow declutterati to celebrate successes & acknowledge learning opportunities 👏😊
“So like you Liverpool-Anne I've not reached the target I set beginning of 2023 but I've accomplished a heck of a lot, learnt a bit about setting realistic targets and the importance of celebrating how far I've come rather than how far I've still to go” One medal 🏅winging its way to you 😊
Moorviews, that sounds so wonderfully organised & efficient 🤩 I am so impressed that a medal 🏅is on its way 😊
Good luck selling your coin collection ~FlowerPot~ 🍀 Do you mind if I ask where/how you are selling?
charlies_tribe, sorry to hear about DS2 😔 Hopefully now things are calming down the situation will resolve itself 🤞 Remember NO washing on New Years Day as it is considered unlucky. I have found the list that I put up at the start of this years thread so will post separately whilst I remember 😉 Some of them are rather creepy 😟
That production of A Christmas Carol sounds truly wonderful EnergyShifter 🤩 Sorry to hear that you have joined the ever growing number of people who are getting sick 😔 Good luck completing your assignment 🍀 & very well done on keeping your in/out ratio within a whisker of 1:3 👏
Muddy_Walker, hopefully your trip out will blow away last night’s ‘bizarre dreams’🤞Hope you have lovely soothing dreams tonight 🙏
wishus, Looking forward to seeing you on the 2024 Decluttering Thread 👋
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏
What a relief Wednesday2000 😮💨 I thought you might have been predicting the Apocalypse 🤣
TC77, so pleased that the New Year superstitions are proving so helpful 😉 My ‘goblins’ have faces that rather remind me of DH & DSis 🤣 although I have to confess that a small number of them remind me of me 😂
Soontobeoap - I was mightily relieved as well 😮💨
Yes, I am far less grumpy 😉 equanimity restored 😊

Well on top of (part of?) the cough / snottiness, I've now tested positive for covid. So no trip to Leeds to do secret Santa with family tomorrow, and working from home on at least Tuesday. Fingers crossed I am all clear by Monday 8th as I'm due to fly to Madeira 🤞🤞2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

That's unlucky Floss! I think it seems to have picked up massively this year, and in 2 weeks once the transmissions from xmas/new year show symptoms it'll be dreadful. For all its many faults, covid is a clever little !!!!!! for how it changes
Edit to add: 1 broken comb and 3 pieces of unnecessary pipe lagging gone, found under the chest of drawers whilst looking for something I lost 5 years ago (which I didn't find!)Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

49 & 50/52 - DH cleared another room ready for Christmas guests. So 1 for rubbish out and 1 for recycling.
51/52 - an unused book regifted. Theme was books and I think this person will genuinely like it. Trying not to think about the book I was gifted as part of the same event but still one fewer overall.
52/52 - board game left out to return to owners at NY when we visit.
Roll on for more in 2024.13 -
Managed to break a plastic storage box yesterday so it’s on the pile for the recycling centre. Continuing to uu food stocks and plan to have a couple of days tidying up before cooking for guests on Monday.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅14

No news @Mrs_Salad_Dodger. Solicitors on holiday until the new year and then waiting on whether the sellers will fix the boundary fence problem, (or come up with an alternative solution). My solicitor has said, if not in as many words, that if I suggest anything other than sellers sort then I have to sign waiver that absolves my solicitor from any repercussions. So I sit and wait. 😭😭

short_bird said:EnergyShifter said:I had a wonderful night out last night - went to see "A Christmas Carol" at the Old Vic. I absolutely love that story - the point at which Scrooge opens his heart always makes me cry. it was a wonderful production. At one point there was "snow" (foam) coming down on us and a ceiling full of lanterns - magical!

Hi everyone
I've been into town today and walked past all the half price Xmas cards in the CS - smug emoji needed here !!
I've binned DD2's old trainers which had holes in.
I've been trying to declutter some work today but haven't quite managed to finish it.
My parents haven't decluttered Covid so I can't stay with them tomorrowI'll travel on Sunday instead and stay with my sister. She is hosting on NYE.
Hugs to all poorly people and anyone who needs one.
Mrs S_D - I do write small & use abbreviations & there is enough space for 3 lines a day!!

@Liverpool_Anne - I just read an article on MSN.com about testing for Covid and they said some people continue to test positive for up to 90 days after they first get it. Disneyland wouldn't test the employees who were coming back from being out with Covid for the same reason. I think it depends on how you feel. I would check with your doctor as you may be one of those people who keep testing positive when they aren't contagious any more. Good luck.13
