Today up early, feed cats, and stayed up. Worked on the computer including indexing project. Got roommate Di up early as we needed to go to the bank and the store before time for her to go to therapy. Had a very strange experience at the store. It is where we go to get our prescriptions. With every 10 prescriptions, they give us a $5 off coupon. One of the prescriptions I needed was ready, but the other one wasn't so I went to check out their sale on Christmas items. I found 4 catnip mice for $2 and 2 ornaments for $1.50 each, for my $5 total. When I got to the check-out counter, the clerk couldn't get the coupon to work. So she took off the $5 by subtracting each item from the cost. I ended up with a bill for 54 cents - the tax. Usually the coupon takes that off too, but that was okay. But because she couldn't get the coupon to work, she gave it back to me and suggested I try next time on something else. So I actually ended up with $4.46 ahead - if the coupon works. We will try it on cat food the next time we go in.
I also found a penny there. The prescriptions were free. And I used a gift card to pay the 54 cents as I had given my roommate G all of my change yesterday. Still have $24.46 to go on the gift card - part of my Christmas present. Di and I also got $50 each in gift cards for Aldi's. Need to keep checking the center aisle to see what we need or would make us feel better. Last year I bought some essential oils there and I do think they are helping. Been trying to think of my 24 in 2024 list. Not as easy as it looks. Also made a list of things I need to do or buy (one page for what costs money and one page so far for things that don't). Trying to do my planning this week.
Hope everyone is surviving the storms and staying dry and not blowing away.

I'm very slowly emptying my fridge, and have avoided the sales apart from returning a couple of pre-Christmas purchases.
I did treat myself to a 5-year diary as that is one of my NY resolutions.
I have parcels to send (2 Vinted & 1 Ebay) and after that am planning to lounge on the sofa & watch TV with my occasional temperature/ barking cough / sore throat / snotty nose. (I just did a test which was negative).
I am supposed to be going to Leeds on Saturday to meet up with family, but will make the decision early that morning. Right now I'm not really up to a 2-hour train ride each way, or for spending money on food I won't taste / eat!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Morning all
I've decluttered some gift bags to my DDs who needed them for their gifts. I used up all my Xmas cards this year and am trying not to buy any in the sales, or gift wrap as I really want to move house next year so the less stuff I have the better! I'm also trying to avoid any sales - in shops and online.
I've decluttered all my soft plastics in the local c00p.
I decluttered most of yesterday on the M6 - took DD2 back towards the SW, met her Bf at a halfway point just south of Brum.
@Floss - I've just started my second 5 year diary - it is a 'one line a day' diary but I can fit in about 3 sentences. I love reading previous entries

Hi all, I have just done another test and am waiting for it to work, so far it's looking negative so keeping my fingers crossed.
@Floss the guidelines now say you should test for 3 days running as the symptoms can be present before you test positive. I started to feel ill last Monday, tested on Wednesday and was negative but by Thursday I was positive. I think the problem is that the symptoms are exactly the same as lots of other viral infections doing the rounds at this time of year so it's hard to tell and with the cost of the tests now we have to pay for them lots of people either don't bother to test or don't repeat the test so carry on as normal. Whatever you have take care as any viral infection can cause serious after effects, hugs
Going for a cuppa now
Take care everyone

3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Wednesday stayed dark & drearily damp all day with the wind really picking up about 17:00. Dinner was a small joint of gammon, oven chips, pigs in blankets & baked beans. DH washed up most of the pots & pans which I dupa, then I did the rest of the wudupa. I was the first one to go to bed 03:00, read a couple more chapters of R.O. book & asleep within a few minutes.

Morning all - hopefully everyone had the best Christmas they could whatever their circumstances. My last visitors have just left but DGCs will be back in an hour for the weekend. Can recycling collected today but had to go outside three times to pick them up as so windy. I need to go to tip but that can be tomorrow's job. I am going to award myself 10 points for random cardboard and boxes that have gone out. Not a lot came in over Christmas as mostly edible things. New scarf gloves and book and some gift tokens.

I added some more things to the donation bag. I did keep the xmas decorations in there as someone on here mentioned that the charity shops would just throw them away, but there were only a few items so I won't keep them as I might not be here next xmas anyway.

Apparently I'm getting some last minute decluttering in! Just had a rice cooker collected, we bought a fancy one last month and only just got round to dealing with it, but it went immediately. Now just waiting to see if someone wants to pick up a coat.
Christmas decorations and paraphernalia have been packed away, including a few bits picked up in the sale to replenish what has been used up this year, but no more than needed.
Have done a shop to replenish other stuff needed, plus some gin that Mr Puppy decided he wanted (we'll say nothing about the two bottles he already has) so we should be good for non perishables for a few months. But more importantly, there is space for them 😄
I have also tidied away the cables in the TV corner, that area was very messy and was annoying me so I bit the bullet and bought a box to house all the cables. Now the Christmas tree is down I have sorted that area and am very pleased with how much neater it looks now!
Edit: completely forgot, also got rid of a bag of electronics after making sure I had pulled all info from them and then factory reset. So our random electronics drawer is looking better as well.12 -
Hello all,
To update my numbers for 2023:
Physical items decluttered or frogs ticked off – 386 physical items out including selling items or decluttering gift cards (I thought had no credit on them) saving £136, UU 22 ood / old food stash items from fridge and freezer, counting electronic decluttering as 6. Completed 449 toads / frogs / froglets / tadpoles. Total 860 = 4778 / 4046. Goal achieved!
Read a book every other week – no more books read, so-total 19/26. Will try better next year!
Mend one item per week – Mended 2 x bathmats, mattress protector, rug with fringing along edge, vest top, pink towel, sewing basket, pair trousers and 2 bras -total 49/52. Almost there!
Weight goal of losing 24kg – a total of 10kg lost, so my 2024 goals will include loosing 14kg more.
One significant home maintenance or improvement job per month - total 12 (of my wish list of 20) –Sorted out water heating controls, leaking roof fixed, waste pipe repaired, porch repaired, and porch roof leak fixed, shower repaired, and hole in wall repaired. Driveway completed except for widening dropped kerb. Builder has started alterations to the house, but no works completed yet, so will count in 2024. Total 8 /12 jobs completed in full.
Sort out and use up old toiletries and excess cleaning products or donate / dispose of so only one of each – 5 items toiletries uu and 3 bottles cleaner disposed of.
Operate a 1 in 1 out rule for clothes, books and ornaments, excess items in = a negative number – 8 ornaments, 1 jacket, 1 pair jeggings, 18 items underwear, 8 handbags, a pair trainers and pair boots totalling 38 items out. 2 pairs jeggings, 4 new tops (2 gifts), 1 gilet, 13 items underwear, 3 pair sandals, 2 pairs boots and 2 pairs shoes totalling 27 items in. So kept to this goal since August.
Try mending or buying secondhand before buying anything expensive as new – Refurbished laptop (faster one with a bigger screen needed due to increased workload; old one was at least 7 years old and considered obsolete by Apple!), refurbished carpet cleaner (to replace broken one), refurbished air fryer and refurbished hoover. Achieved this goal in 2023!
Thank-you so much to MrsSD for all your wonderful cheer leading and steering the EDT, and thank you for offering to continue to do so in 2024, I'm so pleased! Love to all! And a Happy New Year!
Love H x
