Good morning. Nothing much happening here. I've gone through the bank accounts and set up a debt free diary for the first time in almost 2 years. Hopefully we can declutter some debt in 2024!
I've done no end of washing, trying to catch up over Christmas and then DS2 has woke up having had accidents the last 3 days and a few times in the day. He's been a bit off it with a possible migraine and with the excitement of Christmas we will keep an eye on him.
Not sure much else will leave over the next 3 days but I'll keep my totals in here until the 1st .
Have a lovely day xLBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554
Mortgage@1 June 18 - £76350
Total debt @june 18 £102311
Debt Jan 25 £8282
Mortgage £51215. Total debt now £5949714 -
I had a wonderful night out last night - went to see "A Christmas Carol" at the Old Vic. I absolutely love that story - the point at which Scrooge opens his heart always makes me cry. it was a wonderful production. At one point there was "snow" (foam) coming down on us and a ceiling full of lanterns - magical!
Other than that I've mostly been resting and working on my course assignment. I hope to finish that today. I managed to get around to cooking Christmas dinner on Boxing Day.
I was due to meet a friend for lunch today but woke up with a sore-throat and headache so I've postponed. Feeling a little better now but couldn't face eating out. I'll focus on resting and finishing off my assignment.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
I spent Thursday watching Waking The Dead & knitting. Wrote DH a small shopping list & put everything away when he got back. The only thing I decluttered today was cash as our window cleaner & his wife turned up 😊 As he also cleans gutters & he wasn’t in a hurry I got him to clean our gutters front & back 👏 Dinner was pork steaks, mash, cabbage & carrots. Sadly due to a change of meds DSis keeps getting acid reflux so only ate her carrots & cabbage 😔 She has yet to contact the doctor - just prefers to whinge 😔 Apologies for my lack of sympathy but it gets very wearing, as the same thing happens every time she has a change of meds 😥 Wudupa.
2556 - 2557 Kitchen recycling & detritus dealt with appropriately
Friday is another damp, dreary day. I have finished watching Waking The Dead & whilst I mainly enjoyed it (some great storylines) the character played by Trevor Eve was obnoxious in the extreme - a loud mouthed bully who would probably have been ‘bumped’ off before being promoted to such a high rank 😧 & he also managed to get 3 of his team killed over the years 😔 Now I will play catch up on the cheerleading 😉
Excellent decluttering & tidying Moorviews 👏 I think the cupboard will stay tidy as long as only you are allowed access 😉 Our train driver is objecting to pulling into sidings but I have finally managed to persuade her that she deserves a weekend off & her family really would like to see her 🤣
Sounds like you had some fairly quiet festivities nannywindow 😊 Sorry to hear that some of your family were ill & that you are ending your year with medical appointments 😔 Fingers crossed that everything is sorted soon 🤞
flamingo747, Waiting for the recycling bin to be emptied is preferable to waiting for the rubbish bin to be emptied 😉
Liverpool_Anne, sorry to hear that you & OH were still testing positive for Covid on Wednesday 😔 Although hopefully it meant that you managed a quiet & stress free Christmas 🤞 Excellent decluttering 👏 & good luck with “Operation Use Up Freezer Contents” 🍀
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏 What a lovely surprise to have a shorter working shift 😊
TC77, well done on restricting yourself to just a couple of items bought in the sale 👏 Good luck with “Project Furniture Swap” 🍀 Hopefully you can create enough space for your Dad’s furniture without undoing the good work you have already done🤞
weenancy, what a good result re the coupon 👏 Fingers crossed that it works next time 🤞 Very impressed with the clerk on the checkout counter - 💐 for her 😊 I really must get around to joining you in planning for 2024 but am still feeling rather lethargic & just wanting to hide away for a while 😔 Hmm maybe a swift kick up the jacksie might help 🤔 or just lots of sunshine 😅
Floss, sorry to hear that you are feeling unwell 😔 Perhaps a long weekend of pampering & you can leave any family visiting until the New Year 🤔 Good work avoiding the sales 👏 & good luck with your 5 year resolution 🍀
Excellent decluttering Deni_debt-free_dreamer 👏 & well done on resisting the lure of the sales 😊 You either have very small writing or the ‘line’ is very wide 😉
Liverpool_Anne, fingers crossed that yesterday’s test was negative 🤞 I must admit that the ‘guidelines’ seem rather vague & could prove very expensive 😔
GrannyKate, no rest for the wicked - only joking 🙃 Hopefully the DGC’s are old enough to look after you 😉🤞 Excellent decluttering 👏
Wednesday2000, a lovely selection of items in the CS bag 😊 I am rather concerned at the wording in your post “……. but there were only a few items so I won't keep them as I might not be here next xmas anyway.” - I take it that you are moving house 🙏
What excellent decluttering & tidying Foofoopuppy (especially the electronics)👏 A medal 🏅is on its way 🙂
Wow you have done well sumb7170 👏🥳 I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ for getting so much done 😊 I have also made a copy of your comprehensive list & will be using it as a template for my 2024 Goals & Aims 😉 hope that is OK 🤞
As I am now just a page & a bit behind I am taking a break & will be back later for a final push 🙂

Thought I would post a copy of a post I sent late last year, whilst I remember 😉 New Years Eve/Day Superstitions
“I was very curious about New Years Day superstitions (I did know about the No Laundry on New Year’s Day) so did a bit of research 🙂 So here goes 😉
1. No laundry - could cause a loved one to be washed away during the coming year - rather creepy 😟
2. No sweeping, cleaning, wiping etc - see above 😟
3. Wear your best new clothes on New Year’s EVE to welcome the New Year in - it is believed that you will continue to look & feel your best throughout the year. 🙂
4. Don’t eat any chicken - it is believed if chicken is eaten diners will spend the year picking through dirt for their food i.e. bringing poverty on one’s self - another creepy one 😟
5. Noise & light from fireworks coupled with cheering & music is believed to ward off evil spirits. Oddly enough so is hanging a lemon above the door 🤔
6. Open doors & windows just before midnight to let out the old year & leave open until after midnight to let in the new year - I rather like this one 🙂
7. Rather a strange one - avoid crying cats 🤔 thought to be a bad omen so avoiding them is your best bet to a year filled with good luck 🍀
So there you have it - although there does appear to be a whole list of others including first footing, fire festivals, banging the bread, rabbits, underpants colour, eating grapes, leaping off chairs 😬 But my favourite one is giving lucky tokens to your friends & family 😊”
So whether you believe or not, I will take this opportunity to wish everyone a
Happy, Healthy & Prosperous New Year

Thank you for the new year superstitions, clearly my cleaning will have to wait
Does anyone else look round the house and question how they accumulated so much stuff? I think there's goblin bringing stuff in and moving things around!
I have been booking tickets for events to try and focus my mind on I want to be doing in the new yesr other than sorting out the goblins mischief!15 -
Thank you @mrs_salad_dodger, i was, worried about Wednesday 2000 too but didn't know how to tactfully check that they were OK. Glad you are alright @Wednesday2000. Phew!
