TC77 said:@QueenJess very impressed with your minimal pen collection. Handy I have about 40 pens and pencils excluding felt pens and coloured pencils and somewhere 4 fountain pens and 2 non matching halves of other pens. DD2 has an even larger collection and I was buying boxes of 20/ 40 by colour for her at gcse a couple of years ago. Revising she makes lots of notes and gets through a couple of pens a week at times. Did finish one pen today but SABLE is very relevant!
Still haven't found the pencil extender at my dadsI remember thinking at the age of about 15 that I had too much stationery (colouring pens, pencils etc) and I vowed to use them up and not get any more. I loved stationary as a kid (and still do). I did art GCSE and so did manage to use up quite a bit, but obviously I didn't do that great a job as I am only now (25 years later!!) seeing the end of it!I also made prolific notes whilst doing exams and it doesn't feel unusual anymore to use up a pen.2025 decluttering: 3,979🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

This thread is taking some keeping up with! I do feel surrounded by people on very similar wavelengths, though.
Out in the last couple of days:
16-23 some quite OOD food - last couple of months of last year where spent either working or hospital visiting, so a lot less time for proper cooking.
24-89 a whole variety of bits to CS - including cat stuff, since our last moggie died a while ago, plus outgrown GC clothes and toys.
I've yet to make a proper start on the heaps of toiletries and the minor food mountain remaining from our Brexit/Covid food stores. I do need to make a proper list of both things, so I a) know not to buy more of what makes it on to the list and b) the food makes it into some kind of rough menu plan. Fortunately, most of it is extras of things we eat anyway.
And as for the TBR pile, I think I'll need to be ruthless. If I've had a book for 5 years and still haven't read it, why am I still hanging on to it? I do need to remind myself that no one has the time to read ALL the books. I've somehow imagined I'd get to do that (and watch all the TV) once I'd retired, but looking at the pile I'd need to be retired for a very long time indeed!
Recent developments re my OH's health have served to remind us both that not everyone is lucky enough to have a long and healthy retirement, so I guess I should build on that realisation and give us both the less cluttered surroundings we both would benefit from however long a retirement we have. I realise that's possibly a little gloomy - that's not the intention. As part of our earlier than planned retirement, we'll be moving house later in the year and the less we have to move the better.
I'm sure it won't come as a surprise to some of you that I've got a copy of Swedish Death Cleaning somewhere in that pile - just need to find it! (And yes, I can certainly see the funny side of that!)2023 Decluttering Campaign: 89/202321 -
Oh bit by bit. Whatever next! Big hugs.Queen Jess, pen goals 🤣 I was doing so well in giving away and using up pens and Father Christmas brought more! I have an elegant sufficiency of pens again.Vx:16

Not a great day for me today - decluttered time and energy by people not coming to collect free stuff, that's the 2nd time this week so 2 afternoons wasted - sort of - says me pulling myself up from the glum. Rant over!!
De gunked the water filter in the fridge and replaced the filter for the next month. removed dried clothes off the heated clothes drier. Small pile of ironing now waiting, this won't be done till next week. More washing into washer just need to put soap powder in and set it off should be finished before we go to bed so I can get it on the dryer and the room (to be kitchen) will be warm for me in the morning when I get up early and get dressed in there
Off for a chippy tea tonight
Have a good weekend all

I'm taking it slowly, as I'm still new to decluttering.

@QueenJess, wow, you're doing great!
@Pennypincin welcome
I have had a bit of a meh day- had an aborted attempt at a Lidl shop (sat in the car while mum went in), but miraculously made it into Waitrose, with the promise of a cup of tea in the cafe. Bought some bits from there, which of course cost more than the Lidl equivalents, but hey ho!
I retreated to bed for the afternoon, then managed to get up for when DD came home from school
Determined to plough on, I have decluttered
40. A pair of DD's PJs (for friend's daughter, as they are White Company and too nice to recycle)
41 A sweater of mine (CS bag)
42 Some canvas shoes of mine (CS)
43. An old coat of mine, which I have hardly worn and feel guilty about this (CS)14 -
16-17 two very old cookery books into recycling. In fact one cookbook was only half as it had split apart a long time ago.
18. old bathroom cabinet- tip/recycling run
19. laminator, not used almost brand new was going to go to the charity shop until the cat weed on it🙈-recycling /tip run
20. cuckoo clock (not a proper one, plastic but still great based on cartoon characters)-recycling/tip run after DB broke it and bits fell off it.
21. Sky box and bits -recycling/tip run
22. various cables-recycling/tip run
23. Holly Christmas dec that was worse for wear -recycling/tip run
24. Bag that the bits had been stored in also went to the recycling point as very worse for wear.
It was very satisfying doing the tip run today, more items to go next week as took some items for friend today aswell.Totals

While DH sorted out the plastering today I had a day away from the decorating and I tidied and cleaned. I binned a games console lead and half a tub of filler which had gone hard. Also ready for the tip now is a hoover which I seem to have worn out 🙁 luckily I do have another. I think it's done it's duty though as it's years old, but now I'll have to spend more pennies replacing it as I need two, I'm too clumsy to carry one up/down the stairs.
I shared the last of my xmas chocs with DH and the box and inner have now gone into the recycling along with an empty salad cream bottle. I checked my chest freezer this afternoon as we have been using up the odds and ends from in there this week. Thankfully there are a few more lo meals in there to use up as I'm too tired by teatime to cook.
Florence I'm glad that your tooth was saved and you got a 3 for one deal with the dentist 😂
Bit_by_bit so sorry to read about your DS1's problems, hope they get sorted out asap. It must be a worry for you.
Hugs to all.
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
I sorted the 2 small drawers on my desk and the 3 drawers in the pedestal today, while on a (very boring) call. Dried up glue sticks, a dead card reader & lots of scrap paper binned, cables for the tip, a heap for donating, some stuff for 14yo niece (Including several metallic ink pens) and a bag of Fitbit & accessories for Ebay.
I also did my filing & binned the electronic tax return from 2015 . I tried but couldn't stretch to get the paper file out but it will go into the confi-waste bin at work on Wednesday.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
